Tony Awards Best Dressed 2014 — Metallic Dresses Rule The Red Carpet:
The stars were shining bright at the Tony Awards last night, and not just because of their dazzling theatre talent. Just look at Emmy and Jennifer — they literally stunned the world in their shimmering gowns. Their metallic looks even paid homage to the color of the disk-shaped Tony Award medallion itself! Although they rocked the same color, their dresses couldn’t have been any more different — and we love how they reflected the individual styles of both stars.
Jennifer Hudson’s Tony Awards Dress:
Jennifer, 32, owned the spotlight when she flaunted her figure in a slinky Kaufmanfranco Fall 2013 silver paillette gown that highlighted her curves in all the right places. The singer was brilliant last night in her rendition of “Finding Neverland” from Harvey Weinstein‘s soon-to-premier musical — but it was her gown that stole center stage at the Tony Awards. Covered from head-to-toe in shimmering sequins, Jennifer opted for simplicity in styling as she paired her pixie ‘do with simple, William Goldberg Fancy Shaped Diamond Cluster earrings and silver nails. She topped off her look with dramatic, winged eyeliner and volumizing mascara, and completed her makeup with bold, matte red lips. The silver gown featured an illusion neckline that highlighted her flawless complexion and bronze skin — and it kept her radiating all night long. We couldn’t keep our eyes off of her!
Emmy Rossum’s Tony Awards Dress:
Emmy is no stranger to the stage either! The 27-year-old actress may be known for her role on Shameless but she also starred in the 2004 remake of the Broadway classic Phantom of the Opera! For the big award show she donned a metallic silk lamé gown from the Ralph Lauren Pre-Fall 2014 collection that showed off her slim figure. Emmy’s shimmering silky gown put her classic, demure beauty on display. The silhouette featured a detailed bodice made up of knotted fabric that formed into an elegant halter at the neckline, and a silky, flowing skirt that draped gracefully over her legs.
Emmy also accessorized with Ralph Lauren’s Fine jewelry, (which included glamorous chandelier earrings), Ralph Lauren silver platform sandals, and a silver, Ralph Lauren clutch. She complemented her gown with soft, delicate makeup: lilac shadow to bring out her large, brown eyes, pink blush to highlight her defined cheekbones, and matte pink lipstick. The star wore her silky, brunette locks draped across her shoulders in loose waves to complete her look. Emmy, who introduced a performance of Les Miserables at the Tony Awards, was the epitome of class and elegance.
Who Stole The Spolight In Metallics?
Although both Jennifer and Emmy sparkled all night in their metallic ensembles, Jennifer’s look was a bold statement — much like her jaw-dropping vocals — while Emmy emulated demure beauty and had such a timeless essence with her look. Both stars were mesmerizing, but we’re curious to see what YOU thought of their looks! Were you stunned by Jennifer’s dazzling sequins or wowed by Emmy’s silky dress?
