Tracy Morgan In Critical Condition After Car Crash
UPDATE: HollywoodLife.com reached out to Tracy’s rep, who said: “Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.”
Tracy is in critical condition after a major car crash in New Jersey on June 7, CNN confirms. The actor was riding in his limo bus when it overturned at the New Jersey Turnpike in Robbinsville, said Sgt. Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police.
The limo bus was the only vehicle that overturned, but the crash involved an additional two tractor-trailers and an SUV. “Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that’s preliminary at this time,” Williams said in a statement.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital reported that a man named Tracy Morgan was in critical condition after the crash. However, due to privacy laws, the hospital didn’t confirm the actor’s identity. State police later confirmed it was the actor to CNN.
One person, James McNair, was killed in the crash. James was a comedy writer and close friend of Tracy’s. Tracy’s assistant Jeff Millea is in critical condition and Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton were also injured, ABC News confirmed.
Police have confirmed that the truck driver involved in the crash dozed off at the wheel and causing the crash, ABC News reports. “Driver failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead,” Williams said. “He observed at the last minute — just prior to impact — the limo bus carrying Morgan and his party.”
The truck driver, Kevin Roper, turned himself him and was charged with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. He was released on June 8 on $50,000 bail.
