‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Trailer: The McCall Pack Have Killers On Their Tail

Sat, June 7, 2014 1:54pm EST by 9 Comments

The full trailer for Season 4 of ‘Teen Wolf’ has finally arrived after fans have spent nearly 24 hours scouring the internet for clues to unlock it — and it’s crazy. Check it out!

After releasing a 30-second teaser trailer earlier this week, the Teen Wolf team posed the question, “Who is the benefactor?” on June 6, leading fans to wrack their brains and scour the internet for clues that would unlock a new, full trailer for Season 4. Well, only Teen Wolf fans could have cracked the incredibly complicated code — which required a whole lot of teamwork — in just under 24 hours! Check out the fruit of their labors for the FULL Season 4 trailer!

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Trailer: Who Is The Benefactor?

It looks like Season 4 of Teen Wolf will feature just as much carnage as the past few have. With professional killers on their tail going down a hit list of supernatural creatures, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) is not too optimistic about the Hale/McCall pack’s odds. “These are professional killers; it’s their profession!”

Kate (Jill Wagner) features heavily — shifted werejaguar face included — and I literally cannot wait to see her interact with Derek (Tyler Hoechlin). Fans never really got enough closure about their relationship, and there are still a lot of questions about how it went down — not to mention how old Derek was at the time she seduced him in order to gain access to the Hale pack so that she could burn them all alive.

Lighting candles to go along with the prayer that, at some point this season, Derek will viciously kill Kate, just after telling her all about his feelings about their illicit relationship, how it has affected his current relationships, and how he feels about her betrayal. Let Season 4 be the season where Derek shares his feelings. Shh, let it happen, Derek; let it happen.

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Trailer: Who Is The Real Villain?

“Big fancy guns, assassins, and not one of you can answer the simplest question.” Kate says, as “Who is the benefactor?” flashes on the screen. So, does that mean she’s not the biggest bad for this season? Is the werejaguar who has been mysteriously resurrected really not the worst thing these kids have to fear? Who is the benefactor?

Is it this guy?

Remember when we found out Kate was alive and that was the scariest thing ever? We were so naïve.

Season 4 will also have Lydia (Holland Roden) exploring her banshee powers further, Kira (Arden Cho) continuing to be a badass, Scott not wanting “to keep watching people die,” Chris Argent (JR Bourne) telling him he’s “not sure [Scott has] much choice about that,” and new characters Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Malia (Shelley Hennig).

‘Teen Wolf’ Season 4 Trailer: What Are Your Hopes For Season 4?

To go off topic for just a moment, while it’s not exactly high octane entertainment to watch 12 episodes of these kids in therapy… could someone maybe go to therapy? We don’t see it in the trailer or anything, but it would fulfill all of my wildest hopes and dreams for the characters to be given a chance to recover from their last few hellish years at least a tiny bit, or for them to be given the tools to do so. Remember when Stiles opened up to Morell (Bianca Lawson) in Season 2 about his anxiety and his fear of everyone around him dying? It was just a few minutes in an action-packed season, and not only was it a brilliant character moment for Stiles, but it was also a fantastic acting moment for Dylan. More, please!

Other highlights from the trailer:

-Peter (Ian Bohen) getting an axe thrown into his chest.

-Stiles asking after Liam (Dylan Sprayberry)’s lacrosse skills with an exasperated, “Who the hell is that? What is he, like, a werecheetah? Does that even exist? Is that a thing?”

-Derek making out with Braeden (Meagan Tandy), because, sure! Derek has probably recovered from the whole Darach thing by now. But seriously, I kinda like them together, as long as it doesn’t end in more death. High hopes, I know.

-Depending on whomever is smooching on that desk (and I’m sure that a slow-mo GIF will answer that question for all of us sooner rather than later), my whole no-love-triangle theory may very well have been blown out of the water.

-Derek shirtless. Sorry. Sorry that that’s a highlight. (Not really all that sorry.) Also, he has chest hair. Thank you, Teen Wolf, for this blessing you have bestowed upon us. Here’s a GIF for your viewing pleasure, dear readers:

So, HollywoodLifers, are you looking forward to Season 4? Who is the benefactor? What do you think about Kate and Derek? Do you miss Allison already? What ships are you all about this season? What are your nearest and dearest hopes for Season 4? Let me know!

I love your post Amanda. Please never change. You seem to be one of the few rare recappers who can criticize and praise a show without being bias! *cheers*

They definetely need some therapy after what happened, specially after Allison (Hell, I didn’t recover from that entirely.) And it would be a great opportunity to have Mrs. Morrell back. (Love her character.)

About the baddies, I think those cratures are Berserkers or at least I hope they are because we heard about it last season and TW wouldn’t just drop it and leave it.

Since I saw Kate’s blue face last season I already wanted her gone. The last thing Derek needs is to look at her again and remember what she did with his family. Great character, great actress but I’m looking foward to Derek clawing her face off.

About Braeden: I was one of those who were excited when she was brought back to the show last season but… Jeff Davis always has a way of making our wishes turn sour. Just as he did when he introduced Malia with that great and interesting backstory and I was already a fan of the character and then “Echo House” came in out of the fricking nowhere and ruined everything. So, I already love Braeden as an individual person and am interested in seeing more of her but about the ship, it couldn’t sound more artificial. Both characters barely interacted, there was absolutely no build up or fan support…

They just got thrown into a pairing out of nowhere and we are supposed to ship it?! That’s not how Fandom works, not at all. ;P

That Gif… so many feels…

The guy without the mouth looks like Scott’s father! The eyes!

Serious snaps to the therapy comments. That moment with Stiles in season 2 is one of my favorites and not only gives Dylan the chance to shine and his character deeper development, but it brings the show to new levels by realistically dealing with the psychological consequences of going from normal teenager to this kind of life. I’m not saying we should just sit around and talk about their feelings for forty-two minutes, but sweeping all the psychological ramifications under the rug and pretending like normal people can bounce back from watching their friends die and be ready for the next adventure deflates their characters and really 2-dimentionalizes the entire show. It would make the whole thing more nuanced and believable and ultimately more kick-ass if it felt like we were dealing with real people here reacting in very human ways. (even if they’re not all entirely human)
That’s why I’m especially excited for Jeff’s comment about Scott’s very human problems. Love the supernatural, but I want to be able to connect with the characters, too.
