The stunning star debuted her post-baby body a mere six weeks after giving birth…and although her figure was brand new, she selected a vintage gown, (that she purchased!), to show it off in — 40 years after Anjelica first wore the dress on the red carpet.
Olivia Wilde looked sensational as she arrived at Lincoln Center on June 2 in NYC for the 2014 CFDA Awards, clad in a one-shoulder Mollie Parnis fringe gown that she purchased from Decades. That’s right…Olivia did the unthinkable in the celebrity world — she actually purchased the dress she wore on the red carpet! How cool is that? As if we didn’t already have a major girl crush on her, this definitely seals the deal.
Olivia Wilde Purchased Anjelica Huston’s Dress For The CFDA Awards:
Although the majority of the celeb set definitely has a bigger shopping budget than we could ever even imagine, it’s very rare to see a star actually purchase a look they show off — especially on the red carpet. However, when it does happen, we can’t get enough of it. It’s so amazing to see style-conscious stars support stores and designers — especially when their look contains as much history as Olivia’s did!
From the sweeping length to the intricate fringe detailing, the dress looked like something that came right down one of the various designer runways for Spring 2014 — although that wasn’t the case at all!
Anjelica Huston’s Dress From The Cannes Film Festival In 1974:
While Olivia looked amazing in the gown, she actually wasn’t the first star to take it on a whirl down the red carpet. In 1974, actress Anjelica Huston attended the Cannes Film Festival with Jack Nicholson, where she debuted the dress for the very first time — and she looked breathtaking in the gorgeous creation! The night proved to be quite memorable, as Jack took home the ‘Best Actor’ honor for his role as Billy “Bad Ass” Buddsky in The Last Detail.
Olivia added a modern twist to the ensemble, accessorizing with ankle-strap Stuart Weitzman sandals and a black and white Roundtown clutch.
Anjelica Huston’s Collection, Available At Decades:
Christos Garkinos co-owner of Decades, said Olivia’s stylist discovered the look all on her own — and she told him that Olivia really appreciates vintage pieces. “Olivia is really into sustainability and vintage, and likes the idea of one-of-a-kind pieces,” he said her stylist conveyed to him. “[She] loved the provenance of it being from Anjelica. What’s old is new again.”
Decades currently has over 170 pieces from Anjelica’s private collection on sale, which are available for purchase HERE on their site and in their LA store. Prior to Olivia scooping up the gorgeous gown, it was listed on the site for $2,800.
Not only is the actress looking better than ever for her return to the red carpet, but I love the fact that she selected a dress that oozed old Hollywood glamour and was rich in red carpet history — now that’s how one truly makes a grand entrance.
