Drake Releases New Song ‘0 To 100/The Catch Up’ — Is He Dissing Rihanna?
Drake hasn’t officially announced when his next album will be released, but the rapper chose to tease his fans by releasing a new track, called “0 To 100/The Catch Up,” on his website on June 1. The song, like its title, is actually a twofer. Still as cocky as ever, the “Started From The Bottom” rapper referenced a girl on his new track, but it clearly isn’t about his ex, Rihanna.
Listen To Drake’s New Song, “0 To 100/The Catch Up”:
Some of the more notable lyrics are:
“Shoutout to the b****** out here holdin’ down the set
All up in my phone, lookin’ at pictures from the other night
She gon’ be upset if she keep scrollin’ to the left, dawg
She gon’ see some s*** that she don’t wanna see
She ain’t ready for it.”
Well, that’s one way to show he isn’t phased by the drama with RiRi. The song clearly isn’t like his typical romantic serenades pertaining to his more sensitive side, but is a heavily lyric-based and direct track, where Drake normally trades in metaphor. The entire six minutes is Drake bragging about himself with a line in the song stating, “If I ain’t the greatest then I’m headed for it.”
This leads us to think, why would he need to keep boasting about himself if he was a confident man? Did the downfall of his relationship with the “S&M” singer take a toll on his ego?
Drake’s Song Is All About Rebounding — And He’s Been Doing A Lot Of It
Drake has been busy with the ladies as of late. He was reportedly linked to a Toronto-based model named Lala, after she uploaded an Instagram photo of a birthday cake made by Drake’s personal chef.
Now, the rapper finds himself being linked to hit maker Nicki Minaj after she opened up about her love life in an interview with Vice, and stated, “One day I will run away with Drake and get married, but right now it’s just a fantasy.” Furthermore, at the Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 1, Nicki hopped into Drake’s arms — right in front of RiRi, who was in the front row!
With all this lady drama, it’s hard to fathom how the Canadian rapper has time for his music, but he teased that his new album, the follow-up to last year’s Nothing Was The Same, is due out in spring 2015. The “Hold on, We’re Going Home,” rapper will be returning to the UK in July where he will headline this year’s Wireless festival in both London and Birmingham. He will be joining fellow headliners Kanye West and Bruno Mars on a bill which also includes Outkast and Pharrell Williams.
What do you think HollywoodLifers, was it just an innocent lyric or was there a jab at Rihanna in there? Let us know what you think!
