After Gwyneth Paltrow compared Hollywood to a ‘war’ environment, a Green Beret slammed the actress on May 30 for her comments and didn’t tread lightly. Check out what the soldier had to say to Gwyneth here!
It’s Gwyneth Paltrow v. Green Beret Bryan Sikes! After the Oscar-winner compared how celebrities are treated online to “war,” Green Beret Byran Sikes posted a harsh and sarcastic response to the actress about what it’s really like to experience war and life as a soldier.
Gwyneth Paltrow Mocked By Green Beret
Gwyneth has recently come under fire about her opinions concerning life in Hollywood as a mom and she is definitely upping the controversy now. At the Re/Code’s Code Conference in Silicon Valley May 27, Gwyneth shocked everyone with her comments about the harshness of the Internet to celebrities.
“It’s a very dehumanizing thing,” Gwyneth said. “It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it. My hope is as we get out of it, we’ll reach the next level of conscience.”
However, those comments struck a chord with Green Beret Bryan Sikes. He wrote a very critical and sarcastic response to Gwyneth to Clash Daily and it wasn’t pretty. He talked about how there is NO comparison between online hate and actual war.
Here is a portion of Bryan’s letter to Gwyneth:
“You said, “Its almost like, how in war, you go through this bloody dehumanizing thing and then something is defined out of it.” I could see how you, and others like you in “the biz”, could be so insecure and mentally weak that you could pair the difficulty of your life on twitter to my brothers who have had their limbs ripped off and seen their friends shot, blown up, burned and disfigured, or wake up every morning in pain – while just starting the day is a challenge. How about our wives? The ones that sign on to be there for us through thick and thin, that help us to shake the hardships of war upon our return? And do all this while being mothers to our kids, keeping bills in order because we are always gone, and keeping our lives glued together. They do all this, by the way, without a team of accountants, nanny’s, personal assistants, and life coaches. Yeah, reading a mean tweet is just like all that.”
Wow. That is some type of response. Bryan didn’t spare any feelings with his letter. He was brutally honest about the harsh realities of war.
Green Beret To Gwyneth Paltrow: Words Are Not ‘War’
Bryan also wrote in his letter that even though war was a part of his life, he doesn’t let it define him. He focuses on family rather than worrying about the past.
“Remember, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never…be close to what war is,” Bryan closed in the letter.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think about Bryan’s response to Gwyneth? Do you think it was justified? Do you think Gwyneth will respond? Let us know!
