Is Zayn behind bars? One Direction fans are freaking out after the hashtag #ZaynInPrison started trending on Twitter on May 29. The alleged arrest comes just two days after a shocking video of Zayn and his 1D bandmate Louis Tomlinson smoking what they called a ‘joint’ leaked on May 27. But is Zayn really trouble with the law or is it just another Twitter hoax?
Rumors have been flying about the boys of One Direction ever since a video emerged of Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik lighting a roll-up cigarette and cracking jokes about “joints” and “illegal substances.” The #ZaynInPrison hashtag is spreading like wildfire on Twitter but is there any truth to it? Here’s what we know!

Poor Zayn! And this isn’t even the first time an Internet hoax has spread about the 1D hottie — a death ruse involving Zayn was the talk of Twitter in April. We are so relieved to put this latest rumor to rest for Zayn’s concerned fans!
Louis Tomlinson: One Direction Responds To Shocking Smoking Video
It seems likely that Zayn has fallen victim to this prison hoax because of all the negative attention he and Louis have been getting over their shocking smoking video, which showed the boys in the back of an SUV, lighting up and smoking a funny-looking cigarette and making marijuana-related jokes.
At one point Louis even says, “So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!”
One Direction released a statement shortly after the video was released, but instead of apologizing, they simply said: 1D is looking to take down whoever released the footage. “The matter is in the hands of our lawyers,” the band’s rep told HollywoodLife.com.
So HollywoodLifers, what do YOU think of 1D’s statement? Did you believe the rumor that Zayn was in prison? Let us know.
