First Backstreet Boys, then New Kids On the Black, and now, O-Town. That’s right — the boy band is making a come back after a decade-long hiatus! O-Town (minus Ashley Parker Angel, unfortunately) released their first single, “Skydive,” off their upcoming Lines & Circles album, and we immediately feel like we’re back in the year 2000.
The single, “Skydive,” was released on May 28 — and we have to say, it’s pretty good!
O-Town was formed in 2000 on the MTV reality show Making The Band. Throughout the years, some members have come and gone. Today, O-Town consists of Trevor Penick, Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, and Dan Miller.
Trevor describes the new single as “dramatic.”
“It starts with a simple piano and vocal, and by the end you hear a seventy-piece orchestra, and all four of us belting it out in 4-part harmony,” he told Billboard. The progression of the song is pretty impressive with a catchy melody and powerful lyrics. Dare we say O-Town sounds better than ever?
O-Town’s third full-length album, Lines & Circles is expected to be released August 3. Their last album, O2, was released in 2002, two years before the group disbanded.
Jacob revealed the reunion was started just for “the fun of it.” The group talked about embarking on a summer tour to perform old songs, and originally, O-Town had no plans to make new music.
“However, once we began working, what developed was something a little more ambitious. The ideas kept flying and we couldn’t help but start making new music,” said Jacob.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers, does “Skydive” have the power to bring back O-Town? Let us know your thoughts on the single below!
