Meet Mrs. West! Kim officially changed her name to Kim Kardashian West on her Twitter and Instagram accounts on May 28 because she didn’t want to bruise Kanye’s ‘ego’ by not taking his last name, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Four days after Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot in Florence, Italy on May 24, Kim took the plunge on social media by adding her new hubby’s last name to her Twitter and Instagram monikers. That’s because she wants Kanye to know that she will be his forever, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Kim Kardashian Taking Kanye West Name: She Didn’t Want To Diss Him
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be trendsetters but when it comes to their new marriage, they want to keep certain things traditional!
“Kim knows that she will be with Kanye forever, they share a child together and they will share their life with each other, so taking his name was exactly the thing she had planned with Kanye all along,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Even though the Kardashian name is legendary, Kanye wanted Kim to take his name to show that their union comes first!
“It is also extremely important to Kanye and his ego to have his name attached to the woman he is married to. He wanted tradition to take over any type of celebrity nonsense that comes when people don’t take last names,” the source says. “He would have thought it was a major diss had she not taken his name.”

The name change doesn’t come as much of a surprise because Kim actually revealed that she would be adding the West to her name on Oct. 29, 2013.
“I will,” she told E! while partying in Vegas for her 33rd birthday. “Ya, I will. It’ll be Kim Kardashian West. No, not hyphened. Make it the middle.”
Kim is in Ireland with Kanye for their honeymoon but she took some time out of her day to make her social media name changes on May 28. She also tweeted a beautiful pic of herself and Kanye walking down the aisle, moments after they said their “I dos.”
