Here come the grooms! Mitch and Cam are finally getting married, after many ‘Modern Family’ seasons and last week’s marriage mayhem episode. Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) are ready to walk down the aisle, as man and man, and we’re so excited! Keep reading to WATCH a teaser to tonight’s episode, plus an interview with the grooms-to-be!
‘Modern Family': Mitch & Cam Get Married On Season Finale
Leading up to the biggest wedding of the TV season, chaos has ensued on Modern Family. But on the May 21 finale, Mitch and Cam are finally making it official!
After Mitch got into a blowout fight with his dad, Jay (Ed O’Neill), and party planner Pepper (Nathan Lane) had to make some last minute changes, due to a wildfire, the wedding is ready to begin! Of course, Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) got stuck on a moving dry-cleaning rack on last week’s episode, while trying to fetch her daddy’s tuxedos, but that’s another story!
“I don’t necessarily know that in real life anyone would wait until the day of their wedding to pick up their tuxedos,” Eric told TV Guide Magazine, “but that’s what we have.”
Eric Stonestreet & Jesse Tyler Ferguson Are Proud To Be Apart Of Their TV Wedding
In all seriousness, the wedding is a huge milestone in TV history and the actors are beyond proud to be a part of it.
“For a lot of people in America, this will be the first gay wedding that they ever get to attend,” Jesse (who recently married his partner Justin Mikita) told the magazine. “I have a lot of friends who have been together even longer than Mitch and Cam, and they are finally able to exchange vows. So it is very poignant and meaningful to me to be able to bring this relationship into so many living rooms and also into the pop-culture zeitgeist.”
Eric chimes in, commenting on how the series has influenced TV watchers. “Gay is a part of who Mitch and Cam are — but it certainly doesn’t define them…this wedding is a great example to just see how relatable their life is.”
Modern Family‘s wedding episode may bring a few tears to our eyes with the touching wedding event, but all in all, it’s going to be pure entertainment. Jesse promises, “They both turn into groomzillas just because everything has spun out of control.”
Sounds about right!
WATCH the hilarious trailer to the season finale (below) to get a sneak peek of the craziness that ensues. We hope that the wedding goes off without a hitch — but it seems unlikely!
