For the Season 13 finale of American Idol, judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban each got a taste of their own medicine as they performed “True Colors” and “Go Your Own Way” alongside mentor and ex-judge Randy Jackson. Read on to tell us who you think the standout performer was — and be sure to critique their performances as they have the Idols this season! HollywoodLife.com also caught up with Harry after their performance and he told us all about what he’d miss the most about Idol, who deserved to win, and more!
‘American Idol’ Finale: Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr. & Randy Jackson Perform ‘True Colors’
With Harry on piano, Keith on electric guitar, and Randy on base, Jennifer was the lead singer on Cyndi Lauper‘s “True Colors”. I don’t think we need to tell you that Jen looked amaaaaze in a nude bustier with gorgeous beaded detail. Her hair was in a messy bun and she wore a red lip, big lashes, and her skin was as dewy as is her signature!
Then, the four of them transitioned to Fleetwood Mac‘s “Go Your Own Way”, with JLo, Keith, and Harry sharing the vocals equally — Randy continued to rock it on the bass.
Keith performed a totally incredible guitar solo, by the way — it’s easy to see why these four are the ones who make the calls when it comes to curating the American Idol finalists!
Harry Connick Jr.: I’m Going To Miss The ‘Camaraderie And Friendship’ With Fellow Judges
HollywoodLife.com caught up with Harry after his performance with JLo, Keith, and Randy, and told us that “It was a blast” to be up there. “It was great. Just being up there with them in a performing context after talking about it for so many months was just great. I think the only frustrating thing was that we didn’t get to do more of it,” he added. “It was fantastic.”
Then, Harry revealed to us what he’d miss most about Idol this season. “I really enjoyed spending time with Jen and Keith,” he said. “Of course Randy and Ryan, as well, but I really spend the most time with Keith and Jen; we just have a great time together and I think we always take each other’s perspective and we care about these people that are on stage that are pouring their hearts out week after week.”
Harry summarized with: “So, I think the camaraderie and friendship we’ve developed is what I am going to miss the most.”
As for Harry’s choice for the Idol title, he compared Jena and Caleb to Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier, respectively. “Caleb is like Joe — he’s a powerful puncher and he came out hitting hard. And Jena is more of a float-like-a-butterfly-sting-like-a-bee Ali,” Harry explained. “It is a matter of preference, really. It is not a matter of who did better; it is who you like more … it is going to be close, I would imagine.”
What did you think of the judges’ performances, HollywoodLifers? Who was the standout? What did you think about Harry’s comments? Let us know!
