So sad. Michael Jace’s two young sons were both in the family’s Hyde Park, Los Angeles home when their father shot and killed their mother, April, on the night of May 19. The ‘brave’ little boys were brought to the police station after the murder and were later released into the custody of a family member, a law enforcement official tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Michael Jace‘s shocking murder has left two innocent young boys under the age of ten without a mother. Now Detective Lyman Doster reveals to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY how the boys were coping in the hours immediately following the “horrendous crime.”
Michael Jace Sons Released — Relative Takes Custody Of Kids After Shooting
What a tragic story. The children reportedly waited for four hours at the police station for someone from the California Department of Child Support Services to come and get them, another source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Finally, “the two boys were released to a family member of their mother’s side,” Detective Lyman Doster tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“I can’t confirm if they saw the actual crime committed but they were present in the household,” Det. Doster says. “At the very least, they heard the gunshots, there were multiple gunshots. They are just wonderful, brave little boys. I spoke with them briefly when they were brought to the police station. They were taken to the children’s room where they have toys, games and a TV and DVD player. They were questioned by another detective in that room. Both children are under the age of ten.”
Those poor boys. They must be in a state of total shock. Not only have they lost their mother forever, but they’ve also lost their father, troubled though he may be.
“Michael Jace is being held at the 77th jail in South-Central Los Angeles. He is not on suicide watch,” Det. Doster says, adding, “More often than not, young children witness horrible crimes. We as officers think about the well-being of the kids all the time and we just hope that they get the proper counseling and therapy that they need to recover from such horrendous crimes.”
We too hope that with counseling and time, the boys will eventually be able to heal after this horrible tragedy.
