Apparently ‘The Shield’ star Michael Jace let his financial ruin get the best of him on the night he shot and killed his wife, April Jace, while their two young children were at home. The clearly troubled actor and his late wife of 10 years had reportedly been arguing over money before her tragic death on May 19.
Fans were shocked when actor Michael Jace confessed to shooting and killing his wife on May 19 at their home in Hyde Park, Los Angeles. Now it turns out that the couple’s financial distress may have triggered Michael to lose control and shoot his wife, with their two young children in close proximity.
Michael Jace’s Money Trouble — Actor Argued With Wife Before Fatal Shooting
Michael, 51, whom you may remember from the popular television show The Shield, was apparently knee-deep in financial trouble and the issue had become a point of contention between him and his late wife, April, 40, TMZ reports.
The actor filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in March, 2011, which allowed him to restructure and reduce his mortgage payments.
The website says the actor also owed $411,000 on his Hyde Park, Los Angeles home, where he allegedly shot and killed his wife. Michael had not been paying his mortgage for some time and he was reportedly very close to foreclosing on his home.
Couple’s Two Children In The Home When Father Killed Mother
The story just gets worse.
CNN reports that the couple’s two young children were actually inside the home when Michael’s alleged shots killed their mother. The kids were later taken to a police station, where they sat and waited to be placed in the care of California’s Department of Children and Family Services.
