“The Standard has already terminated the individual and will now be pursuing all available civil and criminal remedies,” the hotel said in a public statement, adding that the individual was “responsible for breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video released by TMZ.”
The fight, which went down on May 5 following the Met Ball was captured on an elevator camera and showed Solange full-on attacking Jay Z. None of their camps have spoken out about the video, which leaked on May 12.
Elevator Fight Video: How Much Did It Go For?
The video, was reportedly “being shopped for five days to the highest bidder,” according to PageSix and was sold for $250,000.
“There are only a handful of people who’d have access to that tape,” a source told the site, adding that the hotel hired Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer to find the person who sold the tape. “The Standard owns that tape. Once it was out, Jay Z’s people felt they couldn’t control it. They were reluctant to try and publicly fight this.”
E! News reported that TMZ actually bought the tape for between $50,000 and $100,000 from a female security guard.
Well, either way — that employee no longer has a job! What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Was firing them the right move? Let us know!
