On the May 15 episode of ‘American Idol’, we learned which contestants will be making it to the finale to finally compete for the top prize!
Now that we’re in the Top 3 of American Idol, it’s hard to imagine how to cut any one of the incredibly talented remaining contestants, and yet, it must be so. Alex Preston, Caleb Johnson, and Jena Irene were on the chopping block on the May 15 episode and we were super upset about who got cut. Were you?
‘American Idol’ Recap: Flip Flops Floppin’ And Hometown Visits
Scotty McCreery, winner of Idol Season 10, hit the stage to sing his song “Feelin’ It,” which opens with the lyrics “Pop tops poppin’/Flip flops floppin’/Drop tops droppin’ down/Ray-Bans rayin’/Waves are wavin’/Ladies are layin’ out/Feelin’ it,” so, that was fun for me.
The hometown visit segments are not super thrilling to watch, but it’s great to see these kids back home and relaxing for a hot minute before getting back into the grind. Each of them were welcomed home with a lot of fanfare and a whole lot of crying family members.
When Caleb went home to Asheville, NC, we saw him eat a giant plate of biscuits and gravy, which is awesome, because I’m fairly sure he hasn’t eaten since the finals began.
For the finals, Jena will be singing with Paramore, Alex with his soul brother Jason Mraz, and Caleb with Kiss.
‘American Idol’ Recap: Alex Preston Is Eliminated
The first person announced to compete in the finale is Jena!
The next person going through is Caleb, which means that Alex is eliminated. I am devastated — I’ve been gunning for either him or Jena to win since the beginning!
For his last song, Alex chose to sing the original which got him into the competition in the first place — “Fairy Tales.”
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are you upset that Alex got cut? Did you want him to win?
