On May 13, every time a shocking moment happened, another was close behind. Spoiler alert: if you haven’t yet watched, don’t read on!
1. The Big Proposal
It was about time — Casey (Jesse Spencer) finally popped the question to Dawson (Monica Raymund), and she totally knew it was coming. However, she didn’t say yes. Ok, she didn’t say no either — the fire alarm rang right after he asked and he didn’t want her to answer like that.
2. The Wedding Day
The location of Casey’s proposal couldn’t have been any better — at Firehouse 51 where Boden (Eamonn Walker) married Donna (Melissa Ponzio)! He was shocked that the house all rallied together to plan the surprise for him, since he wanted it to be in a church. Instead, they turned the Firehouse into a church and it was actually pretty beautiful. Minus that the fire alarm went off at the end.
3. Dawson Passes Her Fire Test
It was bittersweet when Dawson passed the test — while she’s ecstatic, it also means she’s leaving Firehouse 51 and being sent to the not-so-nice Firehouse 105. However, she’s confident she can handle it, but her moments with Casey and her BFF Shay (Lauren German) kind of broke our heart! We don’t want her to go!
4. Severide’s Tough Fight
However, it wasn’t all happy. During a fire, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) searched up and down for bodies, but missed a 10-year-old kid who ended up burning to a crisp (and it was actually shockingly disgusting). He was heartbroken and felt responsible, but leaned on his new girlfriend, Detective Lindsey (Sophia Bush). Luckily, the kid miraculously survived.
5. The End-All Fire
It’s no surprise that the season went out with quite the bang. Interrupting Boden’s reception, the fire alarm rang loudly and 51 headed to a smokey old building and headed inside. Severide and Shay had a quick moment before heading in, where they tied up lose ends and once again became the best boy-girl friendship on TV. However, while Boden stood outside still in his tux, he asked all of 51 to report — and when another fireman from another house headed inside, it exploded. Boden has blood on his face, which could have been from the glass hitting him, or from someone who was blown up inside. All of Firehouse 51 was inside, including the medics, so we know they’re not all going to get killed off, but I was too busy crying to even think of that. Plus, I chatted with Charlie Barnett — who plays Peter Mills — before the episode, and he said, “we’ll see who makes it.”
