It’s hard to believe there is only one week left of ‘The Voice’! Two shocking singers were cut on the May 13 semifinals. Keep reading to find out who was eliminated and who made the Top 3!
The Voice presented arguably its most talented Top 5 singers in the show’s history for tonight’s semifinals elimination. Christina Grimmie, Jake Worthington, Josh Kaufman, Kat Perkins and Kristen Merlin were the contenders to head into the finals — who ended up in the bottom and who was sent home for good?
‘The Voice’ Semifinals Brings Back Alumni
The most bittersweet and intense night of The Voice yet started off with some familiar faces!
Contestants from seasons past, Jacquie Lee, Will Champlin and Tessanne Chin, all came back to the spotlight to perform solo songs. They were all incredible, and announced that they’ll be on The Voice tour this summer, along with other contestants from this current season and others!
Another famous face also stopped by: Ed Sheeran! Ed revealed that he’ll be performing on next week’s finals. We can’t wait for that!
Who Is Safe & Heading Into The Finals?
Up to this point, the show was fun, but an elimination show can’t be all about performances.
Host Carson Daly announced the first finalist going into the season six’s Top 3…Jake Worthington! America loves this country boy!
“Oh my gosh. It’s like my kid just graduated high school or something,” Jake’s coach Blake Shelton said. “I will be having a little Sierra Mist and whatever.” Looks like Blake will be celebrating tonight. Cheers!
Next up was smooth crooner Josh Kaufman. Congrats, Josh!
With Jake and Josh in the Top 2, Christina, Kristen and Kat were officially up for elimination, and going up for the final Instant Save of the season.
The Bottom Three Sing To Save Their Lives
The three talented female singers had to sing their last performance of the night — and possibly on The Voice — to save their spot in the competition.
Kristen sang Carrie Underwood‘s “Blown Away,” followed by Kat who sang another one of Carrie’s songs, “Good Girl.” Both ladies were fantastic and Adam called Kat’s performance “effortless.”
Christina belted out Timbaland‘s “Apologize,” of course, adding her own flair, turning the hip hop song into a slow yet powerful ballad. She hit huge high notes.
“If you get this girl to where she needs to go in the finale, if you get her there, this girl is going to win,” Christina’s coach Adam said. “You just got to get her there first.”
Wow! Those are some powerful words. But did Christina’s performance and risks taken on the live show pay off?
Kat & Kristen Are Sent Home On ‘The Voice’
The coaches pleaded America to save their singers in the final Instant Save.
Shakira said that Kristen is so unique and made history for being different from any other contestant to ever be on The Voice. Adam complimented both his singers, Christina and Kat, saying, “your both world class, so beautiful and here.” He said that there’s no such thing as the bottom five, and they should be proud of themselves.
In the end, it was Kat and Kristen who were eliminated. We’ll miss these ladies!
HollywoodLifers, do you agree with tonight’s results? Are you sad to see Kat and Kristen go? Are you happy that Christina was saved? Who do you think will win? Let us know!
