Wrestlemania XXX: Daniel Bryan Grants Fan’s Dying Wish

Daniel Bryan first met his biggest fan, Connor Michalek, when he was just seven years old in 2012. Since then, Connor was invited to join the extended WWE family, and made multiple visits over the course of two years to different WWE events. His last event was Wrestlemania XXX, where Connor’s dreams came true when he witnessed Daniel take the world heavyweight championship.

Sadly, three weeks later, little Connor lost his battle with pediatric brain cancer.

Daniel and the rest of the WWE paid tribute to their biggest fan in a touching new video which chronicles Connor’s close relationship with the wrestlers. The video also features Connor’s father, Steve, who expresses deep gratitude to the WWE for giving his little boy a reason to live.

“That was probably the most excited I’ve ever seen Connor,” Steve said in the tribute video.

In early 2014 Connor’s father, Steve, told the WWE team that his son was slowly losing his battle with pediatric brain cancer. Once they found out that Connor had very little time left, they wanted to give him something to live for. So Daniel and the WWE invited Connor and his dad to sit ringside at Wrestlemania XXX.

“Connor was special for a million reasons,” Daniel shares in the video, openly crying as he spoke about his biggest fan. “His smile. He was so quick-witted. He was nice to everybody, but sometimes so brutally honest, you couldn’t help but talk to him and instantly fall in love with him.”

After Daniel won Wrestlemania XXX, he climbed out of the ring and went directly to Connor who was cheering him on ringside with his dad, where he then said:  “Connor, you mean a lot to me. You give me a lot of strength. You helped me earn this, please keep on fighting.”

“I truly believe that the whole experience extended Connor’s time with me,” Steve shared. “There’s no greater gift that I could get, and there’s no way I could ever repay them for that.”
