Ever since NBC confirmed that Gwen Stefani would be joining Season 7, alongside Pharrell, ‘The Voice’ fans have been buzzing about the new lineup of coaches. Gwen is definitely the best female pick to join the series — find out why!
Gwen Stefani is a modern day rock star, and now she’s adding reality show coach to her impressive list of accomplishments! After her fun May 5 live show performance, it’s obvious that Gwen is going to rock The Voice!
Gwen Stefani Is The Best Addition To The Voice
Reality singing competitions infamously switch their panel of judges on a regular basis, and it doesn’t always work, but The Voice has proven to have a knack for selecting the right coaches and Gwen is the perfect fit to keep the series on their Emmy-winning path.
Gwen is the first rock chick to join a mainstream reality TV show, as a coach. We’ve seen bonafide pop stars, but have yet to watch a spunky, rocker on a judging panel.
Gwen has been making hits since she launched into superstardom with No Doubt in the ’80s, but on May 5, she proved that she’s still got it! Gwen took over The Voice stage with an upbeat performance of her 2005 smash song “Hollaback Girl,” and she gave us a little taste of how much fun Season 7 will be. I loved Gwen’s carefree attitude during her debut performance.
She also proved that her and Pharrell are going to make quite the dream team! The two were already friends before they landed their gigs — they co-wrote “Hollaback Girl!” Blake and Adam also watched their performance from the sidelines, and they looks pretty enthralled. This new quad of coaches is going to be a hit.
Gwen also has the musical chops, which is the obvious deal breaker to have the status to couch talented contestants. When she was with No Doubt, the band won two Grammy Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards and one Billboard Music Award. Gwen’s debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby went triple platinum and earned her six Grammy nominations, including Best Album of the Year. Her second debut album The Sweet Escape was also declared platinum.
Aside from her artistic prowess, Gwen will also be a relatable public figure to America, as she’s a mother of three! The country loves to see working mothers, and Gwen just welcomed her third baby boy with husband Gavin Rossdale.
Is Gwen Stefani Replacing Christina Aguilera?
Gwen Stefani is not replacing Christina Aguilera — she’s just coaching, while Christina is on another season hiatus. CeeLo Green did leave the show all together, but Christina is just taking more time off, presumably for her maternity leave. The “Beautiful” singer and original Voice coach is confirmed to return to Season 8.
While Christina is out, Gwen will do a stellar job in her seat much like Shakira did. I’m convinced that the show needs to always have a spunky blonde on the panel, and no one will be better than Gwen — she’s really the first rocker chick to join any singing competition, not to mention, she’s gorgeous!
HollywoodLifers, do you agree that Gwen is a great pick to join The Voice? Let us know if you’re excited to watch her on the panel!
