The First Lady looked absolutely radiant in NYC on May 5 while speaking at the ribbon cutting for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume center, which has been renamed after ‘Vogue’ editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. HollywoodLifers, what did you think of her dress?
In just a few hours, the Costume Institute Benefit will be held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and Michelle Obama is already kicking off the day in gorgeous style. The First Lady took the stage for the highly anticipated ribbon cutting honoring Vogue‘s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, and we think she looked flawless.
Michelle Obama Stuns In Naeem Khan At Anna Wintour Ribbon Cutting
Michelle wore a gorgeous green floral dress by Naeem Khan. It was made of silk organza and it looked stunning on her. The three-quarter sleeves were perfect for the breezy NYC weather and it’s clear that she loves this designer because this is the 15th time she’s worn this label!
Anna has been the co-chair of the yearly benefit gala since 1995, and she has helped raise more than $125 million for the fashion wing, which has been renamed the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
Michelle Stuns On ‘Vogue’ Cover Twice
It’s no surprise that Michelle turned up at the event, since she has been on the cover of Vogue not once, but twice! Most recently, she graced the April 2013 cover and looked gorgeous with her new bangs and Reed Krakoff dress. Annie Leibovitz shot the pics and we have to say Michelle looked amazing in them.
“I’m here today because of Anna,” Michelle said during her speech at the costume center’s grand opening. “I’m so impressed by Anna’s contributions not just to fashion but to this great museum. This center is for anyone who cares about fashion and how it impacts our culture and our history.”
Michelle was also Vogue‘s March 2009 cover girl and she wore a stunning pink dress. The photo was taken before Obama was officially sworn in and she talked about her fashion habits at the time.
“I’m not going to pretend that I don’t care about [fashion],” Michelle said in the article. “But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear — people just have different tastes.”
Michelle is known for her affordable style and we love that she dresses for the people.
