The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on May 3, hosted by The Soup‘s Joel McHale, was a smashing success. As a comedian and TV host, Joel was the perfect choice to host an evening that was essentially all about making fun of politicians — which is basically half of his current job description, anyway. What could possibly have gone wrong? But before the dinner was the fabulous red carpet which featured all of your favorite celebs, including the amazing Lupita Nyong’o, Sofia Vergara, Scandal‘s Bellamy Young, and more! Read on for the highlights and check out our huge red carpet gallery!
White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner Red Carpet: Lupita Nyongo, Sofia Vergara & More
The fashion was incredible on the WHCDA red carpet. Lupita Nyong’o, queen of the red carpet — and of our lives — was stunning in a black-and-white polka-dotted Oscar de la Renta peplum gown. That sounds like a lot of things at once — and it is — but for some reason it totally worked.
Bellamy Young looked the part of the First Lady she plays on Scandal in a voluminous red gown from Romona Keveza that was totally flattering with her skintone and hit the perfect note for the event. Sofia Vergara also went with Romona Keveza, opting for a gown with a gold bodice and a fluted skirt that, of course, showed off her killer curves.
Katherine McPhee chose a more springtime look in a tea-length creation by Paule Ka, and she looked beautiful — if a little more dressed down than her contemporaries.
White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner Red Carpet: Jessica Simpson, Taylor Schilling & More
Olivia Munn looked beautiful in a detail-heavy J. Mendel, smartly choosing to play down her styling with her hair loose around her shoulders and minimal accessories.
Looking healthier than ever, mother-of-two, Jessica Simpson, stunned in a black-and-white floral gown by Carolina Herrera.
And finally, our favorite look of the night probably belonged to Orange Is The New Black star Taylor Schilling who wore a navy blue Zuhair Murad gown which perfectly complemented her hair color and skintone. The lace side and back panels added a touch of glamour to the simple-yet-beautiful silk jersey gown.
