After Beyonce received word that her biggest Australian fan, Chelsea Lee James, had lost her battle with cancer and passed away, the singer reached out to her family to express her condolences.
In a heartfelt note, Beyonce wrote that 15-year-old Chelsea had touched her heart, and that she would never forget her. The note accompanied a beautiful bouquet of 90 white roses, which Chelsea’s family posted a photo of on Facebook.
Here is what the note from Beyonce said:
“Love and prayers to you and your family. Chelsea was a beautiful girl and I am so happy I was able to meet her. She touched my heart and I will never forget her.”
“A big thanks to Beyoncé xxxx,” Chelsea’s mom, Donna, captioned photos of the white roses on Facebook.
Chelsea passed away peacefully on April 21 surrounded by her family and friends.
Beyonce Serenaded Chelsea In Australia
Beyonce and Chelsea met in Sept. 2009 when the little girl was chosen by the singer to come on stage for a special performance of the hit song “Halo.”
In video of the performance, Beyonce kneels down next to Chelsea while belting out the emotional song. The touching video soon went viral, prompting Beyonce’s fans to support Chelsea and her battle against cancer online.
The pair met once again in Nov. 2013 when Beyonce returned to Australia for her “Mrs. Carter World Tour.”
Beyonce remembered Chelsea from their sin, and the two embraced and chatted backstage like old friends before taking photos together.
Shortly after the concert, Beyonce sent Chelsea a sweet text message about their reunion:
“My beautiful angel! Thank you for the pictures. You have no idea how happy you made me seeing you. I will see you next time I’m in Australia. Love, Beyonce.”
