Ronald McDonald: Face Of McDonald’s Gets A Makeover
McDonald’s unveiled Ronald’s new look on April 23 on their Twitter account — fittingly enough, since Ronald will occasionally be tweeting for the brand. He won’t have his own Twitter account, but he will occasionally be tweeting for them with the hashtag #RonaldMcDonald, as sort-of explained by McDonald’s below:
#RonaldMcDonald is new to social media so he’s just dipping in his toes right now, rather than jumping in w/both big red shoes. Thanks!
— McDonald’s (@McDonaldsCorp) April 23, 2014
It’s probably smarter for the brand to keep Ronald from having his own Twitter account for now — after all, it would be pretty embarrassing for McDonald’s to launch a brand new Twitter account for him and for it to be a disaster with no followers. Furthermore, by having Ronald tweet under a hashtag, there’s the possibility of having #RonaldMcDonald trend given enough RTs and mentions from and to the clown himself.
Ronald has ditched the strange overalls/harem pant combo of yore in favor of a pair of cuffed pants, a striped rugby shirt reminiscent of Waldo (as in Where’s), and a blazer that he can throw on for when he’s feelin’ fancy.
