Joan Rivers has made many insensitive jokes but could these be her worst? The comedian who constantly takes on celebrities for their outfits, weight and political views has just made a joke about the three women, that were held captive in Ariel Castro‘s Cleveland basement for over 10 years.
Joan Rivers Under Fire After Insensitive Joke
This is what Joan said that got everyone so riled up: “They got to live rent free for more than a decade.”
When appearing on the Today show, on April 22, she also said: “Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space.”
Attorneys for Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus are now speaking out and claim Joan has hit a “new low.”
It doesn’t sound like she’s going to apologize, when she was contacted for comment by a local newspaper in Cleveland, she said: “I know what those girls went through. It was a little, stupid joke. There is nothing to apologize for. I made a joke. That’s what I do. Calm down. “
Joan Mocks Lena Dunham’s Weight — ‘It’s OK! Stay Fat!’
Joan also went after Girls star Lena Dunham, telling Howard Stern that it’s wrong for Lena to wear dresses above the knee: “But that’s wrong! You’re sending a message out to people saying ‘it’s OK! Stay fat! Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.”
