On the second half of the ‘Teen Mom 2’ reunion special, Jenelle Evans and Chelsea Houska take center stage to reflect on season five. Instead of focusing on their negative and dramatic pasts, they choose to focus on the steps they’ve taken towards a positive future. Good for them!
‘Teen Mom 2’ Reunion Special — Chelsea Houska Reflects On Season 5
Immediately, Dr. Drew Pinksy jumps into Chelsea’s relationship with Adam Lind.
Chelsea admits that it was scary when Adam filed for visitation rights, because she did not want to lose time with Aubree. Finally, she elaborates on why she wishes she had chosen a better father for her child — Adam has 3 DUI’s on his record and has been arrested over 30 times.
Then, Chelsea drops a bombshell: she slept with Adam just months ago — while his girlfriend, Taylor Halbur, was pregnant with their daughter, Paislee.
Dr. Drew is shocked, and who can blame him? How can Chelsea sit there and trash Adam when she was laying in bed with him just months ago?
Finally, Dr. Drew brings out Adam so that he can defend himself. First, Dr. Drew has him elaborate on his arrests — which Adam claims is only 8 to 10 times. He also admits that he’s sober, because the two year long probation from his previous arrest demands it.
Then, the former couple start arguing when Adam claims that Chelsea does not respond to his requests to see Aubree — which is what prompted him to finally file for visitation of his daughter, Aubree. Chelsea argues that she can’t communicate with him because he won’t give her his phone number, which he claims he won’t do so that they won’t get stuck texting each other, hanging out, and subsequently hooking up.
Adam admits that his cheating on Taylor was very difficult for their relationship, and he is trying to move forward without any interference from Chelsea.
When it comes to Aubree’s visitations at his parents farm, Adam says he spends at least 60-80% of his time with her during those visitations. Sometimes it’s hard for him though, because he does have a newborn baby at home with Taylor. Chelsea wants Adam to focus all of his time on Aubree, but she forgets that he has two children now.
It’s a rare occasion we get so much information from Adam, so of course he is taking the opportunity to defend himself. He swears that he has changed from the rebellious teenager he was just years ago, and that he is starting to put his life together and focus on his children. However, Chelsea shares that she believes he has a problem driving. Adam drives too crazy, and it’s unsafe for the people around him and in his vehicle.
We find out that Adam doesn’t have a license, he has a work permit. This means he can only drive to and from work, and nowhere else. Yikes.
Chelsea’s dad Randy Houska takes the stage, because he is very involved in Chelsea and Aubree’s life. Some may even say he is too involved, but that’s his choice.
Randy’s highlights from the previous season are Chelsea’s achievements in school and her new job as an aesthetician. He shares that Chelsea used to be his “daddy’s girl,” and now she has become very independent from him. That’s great to here, because she always seems to rely on him so much during the show.
When it comes to Chelsea’s relationship with Adam, Randy feels their problems are not because they are attracted to each other — they are because of the stress of co-parenting and visitation battles. He even admits that he doesn’t mind that Chelsea and Adam are still attracted to each other, but that Aubree is old enough to understand when her mommy and daddy are fighting around her.
Randy also admits that Adam’s visitations are not unreasonable at all, but he is concerned about Aubree’s future with Adam because he is unstable.
When it’s Adam’s turn to talk again, he immediately calls out Randy for bashing him on the internet. Apparently, Randy has a habit of making fun of Adam’s receding hairline and other insulting comments. Randy admits that this is true, but doesn’t really have an excuse for it other than the fact that he gets “over” involved. Didn’t I just say that?!
Adam continues his rant about how everyone just focuses on his bad boy behavior and not the strides he has made since being released from jail one year ago. Chelsea says that he brought that on himself because all anyone remembers was his “asshole” behavior, but Adam reminds her that she was not always a good person, either.
This is when Adam reveals that when Chelsea was pregnant with Aubree, she slept with his best friend from high school. Obviously this is very upsetting, but Adam claims it has scarred him for life.
It really is unfortunate that Adam has gotten the short end of the stick, but hopefully Chelsea and Randy will start to commend him for the positive changes he makes in his life.
What is more important is that Chelsea and Adam need to continue working on their co-parenting. It seems like there is still major issues between them, and they need to put Aubree first. That means understanding she needs both of parents, no matter how much they dislike one another.
Jenelle Evans Mom Reveals She Is Proud Of Her
Now it’s Jenelle’s turn to reflect on season five, and they certainly saved the best for last.
Immediately after watching a reel of the season, Jenelle defends her relationship with Nathan by stating that just because they love each other does not mean they are perfect.
Dr. Drew starts to grill Jenelle about her legal charges. Between the possession charges, her probation, and the domestic abuse charges it seems a little overwhelming, but Jenelle quickly defends herself. “When you’re young and stupid, you did young and stupid things.” Well, that’s one way of putting it.
Next, Dr. Drew points out that Jenelle and Nathan both have children with other people and that neither of them have custody of their own children. So, why would they have another child?
“I think we can prove to everyone that we can be good parents,” Jenelle explains. She also reveals that Nathan wants to see his daughter every day, but that his ex-wife only allows him visitation once a month because he has a brain injury and PTSD from his time in the military.
Dr. Drew turns the tables on Jenelle and also points out how much she has grown, and how proud he is of her for being in school and putting her life back together. It’s nice to see him address the fact that she has been making positive changes, and she really seems to appreciate it.
Nathan joins Jenelle and Dr. Drew on the stage, and Nathan reveals that they plan on getting married — but Jenelle has to get divorced first.
Nathan also elaborates on why he acted the way he did towards the end of the season, when he demanded Jenelle get an abortion. Apparently, shortly after Jenelle got pregnant their fights escalated and got completely out of hand. However, that has since subsided and they have started focusing on their relationship and their unborn son, Kaiser.
Jenelle tells Dr. Drew that they met on an online dating app, which we knew from the beginning of the season, but that on their first date they went to the pier. It had been raining that day, but when they arrived it stopped and they saw a double rainbow. Jenelle said that it was “magical” from the start, and after the date they both deleted the apps off of their phones.
Next to come on stage is Jenelle’s hilarious mom, Barbara Evans!
Dr. Drew goes right for it and asks Barbara if Jenelle and Nathan are ready to have a child. Barbara admits she is not happy about the second child, and she wishes Jenelle took some more time for herself before getting pregnant.
Barbara admits that she’s very proud of Jenelle because she’s come so far and she’s going to school, and that she thinks Jenelle is happy with Nathan.
Finally, Barbara admits that she likes Nathan, but she is concerned that he does not work. She doesn’t still believe that he’s a freeloader, but she doesn’t like the fact that Jenelle pays most of their bills.
When Nathan claims that he and Jenelle support each other mentally, emotionally, and financially, Barbara claims that when she was married for twelve years she never financially supported her husband.
Then, things get a little intense when Barbara tells Dr. Drew that Jenelle’s son Jace is always telling her about their fights, and that he doesn’t want to go back to their house. Jenelle chimes in and says that all Jace ever does is tell her how mean Barbara is to him, and that she won’t let him eat certain foods.
Before letting things get out of hand, Dr. Drew points out that the fact that Jace can stay overnights with Jenelle and Nathan is a huge improvement. So no matter what Barbara has to say, things are still moving forward for the better.
When Dr. Drew asks if Barbara thinks there will ever be a time when Jace can live with Jenelle full time, she admits she is unsure. Nathan lets Dr. Drew know that JAce finds “serenity” in Barbara, especially when he is sick or hurt. Barbara is always the first person he wants to see.
Barbara, again, tells Dr. Drew that she wishes Jenelle would have waited to have a baby. But, she also admits that she is thankful Jenelle called her when she got into trouble with Courtland in New Jersey. If she hadn’t, who knows where she would be now.
Though Barbara can be strict, and sometimes even a little unruly herself, she really has helped Jenelle put her life back together. If Jenelle did not have Barbara, Nathan, and Jace, she might not have ever gotten her life in order.
‘Teen Mom 2’ Cast Reunites For Final Moments
For the finale, Dr. Drew brings out each Teen Mom, their children, and their children’s fathers.
Kailyn Lowry shares how excited she is that teen pregnancy rates have dropped drastically since Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant began airing on MTV.
Jenelle’s son Jace gets interviewed by Dr. Drew, and he warms all of our hearts as he talks about his best friend from school, his favorite things to play, and more.
Unfortunately, when Dr. Drew asks Jace to get Aubree so that they can talk to her, Aubree throws a tantrum and refuses to be on camera. What a little diva! Just kidding, just kidding.
Next up it’s Kailyn’s son Isaac’s turn, and Dr. Drew asks him about his mom’s wedding to Javi Marroquin. He shares that it was good, but that he misses singing with his mommy at the wedding.
Dr. Drew then brings everyone out, including Randy, Barbara, and the new additions to the families. It’s so sweet to see how far along these girls have come. Hopefully, they continue to grow and move forward with their lives!
