After being out of the NBA all season long, Lamar Odom is finally suiting up again, this time to play for his hometown New York team in its season closer tonight, April 16. We can’t wait to see him in action!
Lamar has been trying to make an NBA comeback for months after he sat most of the season out, reportedly due to his alleged drug and alcohol issues and his shocking Aug. 30 DUI arrest. We told you less than a week ago on April 12 that the veteran forward had a strong chance of joining the New York Knicks for the remainder of the season and it looks like we were right!
The Knicks have officially signed Lamar, revealing the one-game deal minutes before their season closer against the Toronto Raptors on April 16, according to USA Today.
We’re not sure how exactly Lamar swung this deal, since multiple sources had told HollywoodLife.com that no team in the NBA wanted to take a chance on the troubled player.
Perhaps Lamar’s former Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who is now the Knicks team president, had something to do with it. Either way, we’re sure Lamar is absolutely thrilled! And if he kicks butt in tonight’s game, who knows what the future has in store for him!
Lamar must have been working really hard to prove himself to the Knicks because, as HollywoodLife.com previously reported, he does have a shot at playing for the team next season.
“He may sign with the team to play in the last few games of the regular season and also play with them next year,” a source told us earlier in April. “Basically the make or break day is Monday (April 14), if he signs with the team, or not — will be ultimately decided by the end of the weekend.”
So HollywoodLifers, are YOU excited to see Lamar play for the Knicks tonight? Let us know!
