April 10, 2014 may go down as the most exciting day in history for Boy Meets World fans because Disney just released the first look video at Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) in Girl Meets World, since the original series ended in 2000! The brand new trailer gives us a glimpse at the happily married couple and their daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard).
‘Girl Meets World': Watch The First Trailer!
Cory and Topanga are back! The lovable 90s couple are, of course, rejoicing in Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World and the first footage is finally here!
In the teaser, the duo’s daughter, Riley, is caught climbing through a window with her bestie Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).
Is anyone else having major Cory and Shawn (Rider Strong) flashbacks? Much like Shawn was to Cory, Maya is Riley’s troublemaker best friend on the show.
Speaking of flashbacks, the brand new series, which takes place in New York City, will include flashbacks to the original family sitcom. “I think that there will definitely be flashbacks,” Sabrina told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Back to the trailer. Riley and Maya are about to leave through the window, but not before her dad (Cory!) climbs into her room. “How long do I have to live in my father’s world?” Riley asks Cory, referring to the hit 90s show — and we love this reference.
“Until you make it yours,” he responds. Riley proves to be the ultimate daddy’s girl, asking, “When I do, will you still be there for me?”
But it gets better! Then Topanga walks into the room! We can hardly contain our excitement! Although Cory and Topanga are the only original characters returning as series regulars, many other familiar faces, including Mr. Feeny (William Daniels), will make guest appearances on the show.
Girl Meets World does not have a set premiere date yet, but will debut on the Disney Channel this summer.
