Poor Luke! The ACM Awards host was the man of the night on April 6, but he wasn’t so lucky on April 5 when he lost to fellow nominee Justin Moore in an archery showdown. That’s right — the two country crooners went head-to-head with bows and arrows!
Justin Moore and Luke Bryan both walked away winners at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards, but Luke was the big loser at a heated archery battle before the show. Keep reading to see what Justin had to say about his big victory! (We still love you, Luke!)
Luke Bryan Wows At The ACM Awards But Loses In Archery!
Luke went up against Justin Moore in an archery showdown on April 5 in the Las Vegas desert, as a precursor to the big awards show, and wasn’t so lucky in sin city. Luke lost by a score of 280 to 226. Ouch!
The booty-shaking co-host — who walked away award-less, but was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (“Crash My Party”), and wowed the audience with his “Play It Again” performance — was taken down by Justin who won New Artist of the Year!
Justin Moore Beats Luke Bryan In Archery Battle
The bow-and-arrow battle took place near the Vegas strip on Saturday, April 5, at the ACM & Cabela’s Great Outdoors Archery Event. Justin’s team included Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett and Chuck Wicks and team Luke welcomed Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line‘s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard.
Unfortunately, even FGL couldn’t help out Mr. Bryan — but we have to give Luke props for beating Justin’s personal score. Luke tallied up 20 points, and Justin just had five. Team effort for the win!
“Next year I’m going to recruit my team,” Luke told People, after his unlucky battle. Justin chimed in with a bit of southern confidence: “I wrote my victory speech weeks ago!”
We love that these guys take everything in stride. It’s all in good fun! Luke even tweeted to his 3 million followers that he’s bringing “a little bit of country to Vegas.” Of course, he included his #TeamLuke hashtag. (Take that, Blake!)
