The plot continues to thicken! A brand new episode of ABC’s new drama Resurrection answered only a handful of questions, while leaving a ton of MAJOR new ones behind. Find out what happened during the suspenseful April 6 episode right here!
Everyone’s having trouble sleeping in the aptly named episode “Insomnia.” Marty (Omar Epps) is having nightmares about an old case from his past, in which he returned a young boy to his parents after the child had witnessed a crime.
Jacob (Landon Giminez) wakes his father, Henry (Kurtwood Smith), in the middle of the night because he’s scared that someone is lurking outside his window. Jacob also reveals his fear that he will be taken away, just like Caleb (Sam Hazeldine), who also came back from the dead.
Pastor Tom (Mark Hildreth) isn’t catching any ZZZs either. Not that we can blame him. Having your fiancee come back from the dead will do that to you. And it doesn’t help that Tom is lying to his wife, Janine (Lori Beth Sikes), about helping his returned love Rachael (Kathleen Munroe).
Meanwhile, Marty goes to check on Caleb in jail. Caleb says he isn’t afraid of death, and Marty has another flashback about his old case. Sheriff Fred (Matt Craven) tells Marty that the FBI is on its way to Arcadia to investigate Caleb’s bank robbery, and Marty fears they will get suspicious and start looking into Jacob as well.
The police search Caleb’s daughter Elaine’s (Samaire Armstrong) house for the money he stole but come up empty-handed. While they’re poking around, Sheriff Fred’s daughter, Dr. Maggie (Devin Kelley), comes by to console Elaine, who reveals that she was fired because of Caleb’s crime. Maggie apologizes for keeping the investigation a secret from Elaine, and tells Elaine that she a strong person and that she isn’t alone.
Tom goes to visit Rachael in the hotel he put her up in — he better hope his wife doesn’t find out about that. Rachael hasn’t been feeling well so Tom suggests that she go see Dr. Maggie, who has already treated Caleb and her cousin Jacob.
Sheriff Fred and Marty tell Caleb that he needs to start talking or the FBI is going to come and put him in a secret underground lab to examine him. “Karma’s an anal probe,” Sheriff Fred charmingly threatens Caleb. Talk about playing bad cop! Caleb warns them that the FBI will also look into Jacob, and Marty is clearly worried because he has another flashback to his old case. This time, we find out that Marty assured the frightened child that he would be safe in his home. When Marty snaps out of it, Caleb warns him that “more are coming, more than you can ever imagine.”
It looks like Arcadia hasn’t seen the last of the returned!
Henry has been struggling with Jacob’s resurrection but he makes a breakthrough in this episode. He tells his wife, Lucille (Francis Fisher) that he wants to let go of the “Jacob we lost” but he doesn’t know how. Lucille responds by saying, “You have to let yourself feel.” He later heads down to his basement to look at old pictures of Jacob and breaks down into tears. It looks like he’s finally ready to let go of the old Jacob and let the new one into his life.
Marty shows up to Elaine’s house to ask for help uncovering where Caleb hid the money he stole but she is furious with her father and says she’s not interested in talking. In fact, she tells Marty to get out of her house. He warns her that the FBI is going to find out about Jacob and take him away if she doesn’t do something to stop it. But Elaine smartly says, “Isn’t that your job?”
Tom takes Rachael to see Dr. Maggie, and Rachael tells her that she’s been feeling dizzy. When Maggie asks her if she remembers anything from right after she came back and Rachael immediately gets uncomfortable and says she doesn’t want to talk about it.
Elaine finally caves and goes to see her dad at the prison, but it’s not exactly a friendly visit — she has a wire on! Elaine accuses her father of using her and being an all-around bad guy. He reminds her of all the good times they shared at the park, and Sheriff Fred thinks Caleb must have hidden the money there. He and Marty bring a search team there, but come up empty-handed once again.
Back at Dr. Maggie’s office, Rachael gets some truly shocking news — she’s pregnant! What!? At first I thought this might have something to do with why she committed suicide but Rachael seems totally shocked to hear the news, and she says it must have happened before she came back. She begs Maggie not to tell Tom and Maggie promises that she won’t.
It turns out Caleb did leave Elaine a clue about where the money was and she starts hacking up her porch to find it. Elaine gives Marty the money and tells him to tell her father that she doesn’t want it. Marty returns to the prison to confront Caleb, but instead of being shocked that Elaine gave him up, he just starts coughing and tells Marty that he has information about his old case. A final flashback shows that the child Marty promised to keep safe was murdered. No wonder this kid is haunting him!
Before Marty can find out if the child is at peace, Caleb suddenly disappears! What!? Is this something that happens to returned people?
Perhaps we’ll have some answers next week because Maggie has called in another doctor for a second opinion on her resurrected patients.
Marty worries that Jacob may have disappeared too and rushes over to his house. Jacob knows that Caleb has disappeared before Marty even tells him. This is all so mysterious! What else does Jacob know? We hope we find out before he pulls a Caleb and disappears!
