In August 2012, Zachary Dutro-Boggess died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen. Prosecutors used the testimony of Zachary’s 8-year-old sister against her mother in court on April 1, and the little girl claimed that her mother, Jessica Dutro, beat her brother until he died. The next day, a jury found Jessica guilty of murdering little Zachary.
Jessica Dutro, 25, was convicted of murdering her son, 4-year-old Zachary Dutro-Boggess, by an Oregon jury on April 2.
Jessica Dutro — Guilty Of Murdering Her Son
On April 2, a jury in Washington County, Oregon, listened to a 9-year-old girl testify against her own mother.
Prosecutors spoke to the little girl’s therapist on the stand, and also repeating quotes that she told a detective.
“They beat up my brother, then he died,” the girl told her therapist, according to Oregon Live. “I seen them.”
In a more disturbing statement, the little girl revealed that Jessica and her boyfriend at the time, Brian Canady, knew that Zachary was not feeling well after being beat up by them.
“Jessica and Brian, they kept hitting him and punching him. He didn’t listen to them so they kicked him and punched him and stuff and they kept doing it and doing it,” she explained. “They knew he were sick and stuff. And they didn’t tell anybody.”
Zachary collapsed inside the homeless shelter he and his family were living in on Aug. 12, 2012. Two days later he was taken off life support at the hospital, and later died from his internal injuries.
Jessica Dutro Had No Reaction To Her Verdict In Court
The mother who murdered her son with the help of her boyfriend showed no visible reaction to the guilty verdict as a jury member read it out loud to the judge.
It was reported that when authorities searched her computer, they found that on the day Zachary died, Jessica searched terms like “anger management” and “parenting classes.”
Apparently, Facebook messages from Jessica to her boyfriend Brian showed her claiming that she believed Zachary was gay.
“He walks like it and talks like it,” the murderous mom wrote to Brian.
After pretending not to know what was wrong with the boy, Brian later admitted that he had kicked the little boy in the abdomen while wearing shoes two days before he collapsed. Zachary died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, and a delay in medical treatment. An autopsy showed that the little boy had tears in his colon from being repeatedly hit in the abdomen.
In March 2014, Brian pled guilty to manslaughter after agreeing to testify against Jessica in court. However, neither Brian nor Jessica were ever called to the stand before a verdict was reached.
