Whoa, low blow! It sounds like Drake Bell has some serious animosity toward many young stars. In a new interview, he called out Justin, Ariana and even Lady Gaga for the way they became famous, the way their fans act and the ‘terrible message’ they’re sending! Ouch!
Drake Bell has landed himself in hot water, again. After saying Justin Bieber should be deported after his arrest in January, he’s taking jabs at the pop star once again, as well as his friend Ariana Grande.
Drake Bell Disses Justin Bieber & More: How’d They Get Famous?
“There’s just a lot of really young, entitled people,” Drake, 27, told BuzzFeed in a new interview, but of course feeling like he had to call out specifics. “I don’t think a lot of these young people have to work very hard. They’re found on YouTube and, boom, thrown into the studio so they think they can get anything they want. Ariana Grande is a billionaire before she’s been an artist. You have to work to be able to appreciate what you have, and what work did she ever have to do in her life?”
It’s shocking that he’d throw shade at Ariana when they both started on Nickelodeon — he was on Drake & Josh and she’s still on Sam & Cat.
Since Drake isn’t a fan of Justin — as he’s voiced in the past — it’s no surprise he also attacked him and Beliebers in general.
“I can’t stand that, with a lot of the pop stars, there’s this idea of ‘Are you in our clique? Are you a Direction-er or are you a Belieber?Oh, you’re not in our gang? Then you’re not cool and you need to go in a hole and die.’ I don’t understand it,” he explained. “And what’s worse is artists like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber don’t come out and say, ‘I love having you as my fans, but you shouldn’t be acting this way.’ They just eat it all up, and I think it’s repulsive.”
Drake Will Call Out His Fans For Being Rude, But Claims Others Won’t
Justin, Ariana and Gaga all have huge diehard fans, but Drake says when those fans are irresponsible, the star should stand up to them and tell them what is and isn’t right.
“If I catch one of my fans saying something improper, a gay slur or any derogatory term, I instantly tweet directly at them and say, ‘This isn’t how we do it,'” Drake said, adding that he once heard Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM show when he was reading mean tweets that he had received from Gaga’s fans. She responded to them with, “You have to understand, Howard, it comes from a place of love. They don’t want to see me get hurt.” To Drake, this was unacceptable.
“I couldn’t believe she didn’t take a second to address her fans and say how disgusted she was they’d do something like that. But none of them do that,” he added. “Justin Bieber just tweets, ‘Yeah, Beliebers, go hard’ when they’re attacking somebody. Ariana Grande’s fans told Perez Hilton that he and his son needed to die and get cancer, and she just fed it. It’s disgusting.”
He also took more digs at Justin for getting in trouble, even though he filed for bankruptcy in February.
“That financial stuff could have happened to anybody. There’s decisions that have to be made as far as business, but as long as you really care about the craft and remember why you originally started in this business, it comes back,” he added.
Do you think Drake is right? Do you think he’s being too harsh by talking about all of the big stars? Let us know!
