James Roday will solve his final case as fake psychic Shawn Spencer when ‘Psych’ airs its series finale on Wednesday night. Are you sad to see the long-running series come to an end?
After 120 episodes, eight seasons and that oh-so-memorable two-hour musical, the USA’s Psych will air its final episode on Wednesday, March 26 (9/8c). So how do the show’s stars James Roday and Dulé Hill feel about the series coming to an end? Keep reading to find out!
‘Psych’ Stars Look Back On Eight Seasons
He’s been working on Psych for eight years now, but actor James Roday says he’s totally fine with his dramedy ending. “Collectively we all sort of loved the idea of going out, while we maybe still had a little bit left in the tank, so maybe we could do something else down the road,” Roday told Access Hollywood.
Roday’s co-star Dulé Hill agrees that the show is going out on top. “Our last two seasons especially have been getting stronger and stronger, and I feel like we’re ending the show at the top and not seeing a decline in what we were doing,” he told TVGuide.com. “We’re not creeping into the station.”
‘Psych’ Fans Can Expect An Emotional Finale
So what can we expect to see in tonight’s series finale? “Plenty of whimsical, classic Psych comedy,” says James, who adds that the final episode will be a sentimental one. “The series finale, I think, is probably the most emotional episode that we’ve had just because the heart of the show is, and always has been, two best friends who go on these crazy adventures and are willing to essentially die for one another doing it.”
“The finale is structured in such a way where that friendship is tested in a way that we haven’t ever quite seen it before, and so it definitely has a different color and it was definitely a challenge to shoot it,” James told TV Guide.
Although the show is coming to an end Wednesday night, James says he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a Psych movie or some other TV event.
“We all love each other and nobody would be against making that happen at some point,” he told the magazine. “All we know is that it was hard to say goodbye and it was tough to let go. That door is not closed and it’s certainly not locked.”
The Psych series finale airs Wednesday at 9/8c on USA.
