Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) are pretty much perfect for each other. Besides the constant fighting, drunken debacles and downright craziness, they’re a match made in New Girl heaven. But has their time come to an end? Find out what happened on last night’s March 25 episode!
It took over two seasons for Nick and Jess to get together, and ever since they’ve realized that they should be more than friends, fans have been obsessed with their love story. And who wouldn’t? They’re totally relatable to 20-somethings everywhere — waking up drunkenly in bed, fighting over their friend’s relationships and obviously being downright adorable.
But now that they’ve reached serious couple status, Nick and Jess are getting into real talk. Like real talk. Baby talk. White picket fence talk. Marriage talk. Jess, haven’t you learned not to let your emotions get to you when you’re hungover? Let the alcohol dispel itself from your body before you talk babies!
“We live in a house by a lake,” Jess pondered to Nick. “We live in a town with a sense of history, but not so much history that the locals are suspicious of new people.” Then she goes on to mention “two small children who are so incredibly creative they named themselves. We don’t need to discipline the kids because they’re so afraid of disappointing us.”
That perfectly-planned monologue was the kiss of death for Nick, who tried to stay cool, but in actuality, was freaked out. Turns out, the pair has a very different outlook on their future life, separately or together. They love each other, but is love enough?
(For the record, Cece’s drunken texts from the night before have nothing on Nick and Jess’s problems!)
By episode’s end, a fire had erupted (literally), and the heat was rather indicative of Nick and Jess’ erupting lovers’ quarrel. The two realized that they have essentially nothing in common, besides loving each other, but they cut the cord on their romance, in order to salvage their friendship.
As much as these two fight, how will the show possibly go on without their tiffs between the sheets? Half the show is filmed in Nick’s bedroom and we love being a fly on that wall!
HollywoodLifers, were you sad to see Nick and Jess break up? Let us know if you hope they get back together!
