Find out what Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer, and Chelsea Houska were up to on the March 18 episode of Teen Mom 2.
After the big fight between Jenelle Evans‘ mom Barbara and her boyfriend, Nathan Griffith on the March 11 episode of Teen Mom 2, Jenelle admits that she feels just terrible about it. Jenelle waves a white flag at her mom when she takes Jace off of her hands on his birthday so that Barbara can spend time preparing his birthday party. It’s a really nice gesture, and Barbara admits that she is super impressed with Jenelle asking to spend Jace’s birthday with him. While Jenelle is driving Jace back to her mom’s house for his birthday party, she admits that she invited Nathan even though Barbara was adamant about not wanting him there. It’s no surprise that this causes another fight between Jenelle and Barbara, which is pretty upsetting because they should just be focusing on Jace and his birthday party. Thankfully, Jace seems pretty unphased by the fight and has a ball splashing around in the pool with his little friends. At this point, he’s probably just used to watching his mom and grandma fight all the time.
Things don’t seem that awkward Nathan shows up until Jenelle suggests that he be in charge of serving the ice cream. It’s really nice that Jenelle wants Nathan to be involved in the family event, but this sets Barbara off. Again, Barbara should really be focusing on making sure Jace is having a good time over anything else. After Barbara flips out, Nathan and Jenelle try to enjoy a quiet moment on the swings. Nathan expresses his concern about Barbara not embracing him as part of the family, and he seems really genuine about wanting to make amends with her. As we already know, Nathan was very regretful about the argument, so it’s nice to see that he truly means it. Later on during the party, Nathan takes a moment to apologize Barbara but she is definitely not interested in hearing it. He finally gets to at the very least accept his apology, but makes sure to remind him that she has dedicated her life to her children, including Jace, and doesn’t deserve to be called a bad mom. Barbara even admits that she knows she and Jenelle have a weird relationship, but she has always had Jenelle’s back. Nathan tells Barbara that if that’s true, then she can come after him if he ever hurts Jenelle but until then, he doesn’t deserve her talking poorly about him. Seems like they are both right this time, and hopefully this will end the fighting. At least for Jace’s sake, right?
After the party, Jenelle seems really concerned about how Jace was acting out physically during his birthday party. Quite a few times, both Jenelle and Barbara had to yell at Jace for hitting his friends while they were in the pool together. As Jenelle tries talking to him about it, he starts throwing his toys and kicking Jenelle. Barbara tells Jenelle that she thinks Jace does it because he wants attention, especially after coming home from visiting Jenelle and Nathan in their home. It’s nice to see that Jenelle is getting involved. Hopefully, she’ll spend even more time with Jace in the future and he’ll stop seeking so much attention.
Things seem a little tense between Leah Messer and her husband Jeremy Calvert, and Leah admits things have been stressful while they look for a new home. On top of that, Jeremy has been called back to work and will be traveling away from home for a few weeks leaving Leah behind to take care of the kids alone again. Shortly after finding out that he has to leave, Leah starts badgering Jeremy about not being there for her like a normal husband. This is when Leah suggests that they should try couples therapy, but Jeremy doesn’t take her very seriously at first.
Once he realizes that she is serious about going to counseling, Jeremy starts acting weird around Leah. While they are arguing about it, Jeremy “playfully” slaps Leah in the face with a piece of bacon which seems extremely uncalled for. Leah sits Jeremy down to try and get him to take her request for counseling serious, but he is still against it. Apparently he doesn’t like being told what to do, so it looks like there will be no compromise between the couple.
In a surprising turn of events, Jeremy comes home early from traveling for work to tell Leah that he quit his job. Jeremy tells Leah that he got a job offer in New Mexico for a lot more money, and even though Leah seems hesitant at first she eventually warms up to the idea when he tells her he’ll be able to afford to fly her down for visits. Hopefully these two can work out their issues sooner rather than later.
It’s almost wedding time! Kailyn Lowry is trying to make amends with her husband Javi Marroquin‘s family to ease the tension before her big day. We also find out that Kailyn didn’t invite Isaac‘s father Jo Rivera to the wedding, and rightfully so after their bitter custody battle. Sadly, Kailyn also admits that she did not admit her biological mother to her wedding, either. During an emotional moment with Javi, she says that her mother wasn’t invited because she hasn’t been there for any other important moments in her life. It’s truly heartbreaking to hear her say it out loud, but at least she has come to terms with it.
Later, both Kailyn and Javi are in separate hotel rooms hanging out with their friends and family. While Javi tells his guy friends that he knows Kail is the one, and he is looking forward to spending the rest of his life with her, Kailyn is making amends with his family. Earlier in the season, Kailyn had some minor drama with Javi’s family over some of her bridesmaid decisions. Thankfully, the girls don’t seem too upset with her and everything has smoothed itself out just in time for the wedding.
As usual, Chelsea Houska is stressed out over Aubree’s father Adam Lind demanding custody. Chelsea has apparently written an objection letter to Adam’s request for mandatory visitations, but hasn’t heard anything about it yet. Chelsea also admits that she “doesn’t understand” the court stuff, and that she doesn’t talk to Adam about any of it because she thinks he’ll hold it against her in court. Trying to lighten things up, Chelsea decides to enroll Aubree in dance classes for the first time. Obviously, Aubree makes the most adorable little ballerina!
Towards the end of the episode, we find out that Adam knows about Chelsea’s objection letter to his visitation request. Adam tells his friend Randy that he thinks he’s changed enough for a court to recognize that he’s growing up and deserves to see his daughter, Aubree.
