L’Wren’s shocking suicide comes after she was forced to cancel her London Fashion Week show at the last minute in January. She blamed the cancellation on a fabrics mishap, but a source tells the UK’s MailOnline that the seemingly successful designer was actually “hemorrhaging cash” and could not afford to go forward with the show.
L’Wren, who had always refused financial assistance from longtime love Mick Jagger, was “embarrassed” by her money troubles, the source adds.
L’Wren’s company, LS Fashion LTD, had a deficit of $5,899,548, and she owed creditors $7.641 million, according to the most recent accounts for her business, filed in the UK in October, 2013. Her company’s debts were reportedly increasing with every passing year, hitting $3,063,160.87 in 2010, MailOnline reports.

L’wren allegedly hanged herself from a scarf on a doorknob on March 17. She was found by her assistant at 200 11th Ave. at around 10 a.m., police told the NY Daily News. According to a source, police do not suspect foul play, however, the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. She was found unresponsive, and when EMS got there she was announced dead on arrival, police confirmed to HollywoodLife.com.
According to the newspaper, the designer texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked her to come over, police sources said. When she arrived, she found L’Wren’s body and called 911.
L’Wren had been dating Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger for more than 10 years before her death. “He is completely shocked and devastated by the news,” a spokesperson for the legendary lead singer told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
