Lena Dunham Is Cupping — Cool Or Crazy?
Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, David Arquette, and now Lena have all joined the cupping bandwagon. Lena decided to try out this ancient pain relief method and we’re here to tell you what cupping therapy is all about.
Cupping is an ancient healing treatment that is actually a form of acupuncture derived from China. The treatment supposedly increases blood flow, providing circulation as well as relieving pain around your neck and shoulders. It also claims to detox the body and give your body more energy.
The process starts off with a flame that is first placed inside a glass cup to heat it up, so the vacuum is created. Then they are placed onto your skin for about three minutes and the cups begin to create a suctioning effect, which provides the blood and energy flow. This treatment leaves circle marks because of the suction aspect of the therapy. It fades after about 5 to 7 days.
Lena Instagrammed her picture with a caption: “Da Cure,” which shows that this cupping treatment actually worked for her!
