Shailene Woodley is preparing for ‘Divergent’ to become a major blockbuster when it hits theaters on March 21 — but she doesn’t want it to be compared to ‘Twilight.’
Apparently Shailene Woodley is not Team Edward! The Divergent star is aware that her new film will have a huge following just like Twilight did, but she’s hoping that it has a far more positive message! In a new interview, the actress reveals that she thinks the super popular series sent a bad message to young people and that it won’t “help this world evolve.”
Shailene Woodley’s Twilight Diss
“Twilight, I’m sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship,” Shailene, 22, says in the April issue of Teen Vogue. “She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she’s going to kill herself! What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve.”[hl_ndn videoid=”25703825″][hl_ndn videoid=”25614931”]
It’s pretty clear she doesn’t have much in common with Edward and Bella — or Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. She’s never hooked up with a guy she’s working with!
“I haven’t had time to think about a relationship! I literally have not had a boyfriend in almost five years,” Shailene says in the magazine. “I’ve never even hooked up with anybody I’ve worked on a movie with.”
However, after filming is a different story.
“Well, that might have happened on something . . .” she told the magazine, laughing.
Shailene Admits She’s Bisexual
Well Diverent is filled with gorgeous men and women! Shailene isn’t against hooking up with men or women, she revealed in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I fall in love with human beings based on who they are,” she told the magazine. “Not based on what they do or what sex they are.”
Good for her for standing up for who she is!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Shailene’s diss to Twilight was out of line? Do you agree with her that the relationship between Edward and Bella sent a bad message? Let us know!
