Tony Hawk and some other big names have come together for a promo video showing off something some of us have been waiting for since we all went ‘Back To The Future’ on November 22, 1989. But is this technological marvel real or fake? Click Below to watch the video and judge for yourself.
Tony Hawk, 45, and a rage-tag band of scientist teamed up to build something that is truly amazing. The skateboard god and a few other well-known people came together in a promotional video for the world’s very first hoverboard. But is the video real or fake?
Tony Hawk Makes Viral Hoverboard Video
A very convincing made-for-viral video has been making the rounds on the internet, reportedly showing off a real hoverboard similar to the one Michael J. Fox used in Steven Spielberg’s Back to the Future II. Do you dare believe it’s real?
It’s not exactly clear what the video is promoting, but whoever was behind the making of it had the cash to hire big skateboarding legend Tony as well as Christopher Lloyd (who played Doc Brown in the Back To The Future trilogy), and musician Moby, reports The Independent.
OK, not to rain on everyone’s parade — this video is definitely fake. You can clearly see a safety harness under Tony’s t-shirt and the shadow of some kind of crane in the background.
So now that that mystery has been solved, the bigger one seems to be who’s behind the video. Comedy video site Funny or Die might be behind the video. The technical team responsible for the hoverboard video (Spring Studio) also built Funny or Die’s new website, reports The Verge.
Tony’s Viral Hoverboard Video Wows On The Web
OK, the board is fake, but don’t feel bad. Even though that product is still light-years away, there have been rumors that a Back To The Future type self-lacing shoe is due to hit shelves in 2015. So look forward to that people because we are!
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Do you think it’s possible that they could create a real hoverboard in the future? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
