Klaus’s trust issues just became a whole lot more clear. The March 4 episode of ‘The Originals’ unearthed one of Klaus’s worst nightmares — and we even felt bad for him!
The Mar. 4 episode of The Originals made you realize that in the Mikaelson family, the king of evil easily goes to Mikael Mikaelson (Sebastian Roché). Klaus’s (Joseph Morgan) hatred of Rebekah (Claire Holt) carried over from the last episode, but his reasoning for being so hurt was uncovered in a past filled with heartbreak, pain and bloodshed. Plus, a fan-favorite character returned! Find out who it was below…
‘Originals’ Recap: Davina Is Alive In ‘The Babysitter’s Club’ For Vampires
You heard it — Davina is back! But first, let’s talk about how we got there…
Once again, The Originals headed back to the year 1919. Klaus and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) looked dapper in their suits and slicked-back hair. The brothers and Klaus’s lady friend were celebrating Klaus’s success in New Orleans. However, Klaus wasn’t having much success in the present day. Yeah, he still had that “mystical torture device” in his chest, thanks to Elijah.
Elijah went to Cami (Leah Pipes) for help with Klaus. Basically, right after he stabbed Klaus with this “mystical torture device,” Elijah wanted to remove it. Cami was really of no use to the situation except as moral support. She’s the only one Klaus wouldn’t slaughter on the spot. (Now that’s the kind of superlative I want.) Elijah reached in Klaus’s chest and retrieved the knife. Maybe it was because I’d just eaten dinner, but that scene was so gross. And just to give Cami something to do, Elijah told her to watch over Klaus and feed him. (Is Cami getting paid for this babysitting?)
Meanwhile, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and her friend Eve had Sabine/Celeste/Everyone (Shannon Kane) tied up and ready to negotiate. Hayley wanted to know about the curse Brynn Deveraux/Celeste put on some members of Hayley’s pack that made them capable of only turning human on a full moon. Celeste gave Hayley the cure for her friends, but Elijah showed up and told Hayley not to trust her. Hayley got all Mama Wolf and told Elijah that he could either help her or step off. Elijah, always being the smartest one in the room, took on Sabine/Celeste with his vampire speed.
Celeste then tried to get in Elijah’s head concerning Hayley. She told him, “No matter what happens now, you’ve lost her.” Basically, Hayley will leave Elijah in the end and then Celeste will finally seek her revenge. First off, who would ever leave Elijah? Second off, who would ever leave Elijah?
Being the best guy ever, Elijah gave Hayley the witchy mixture to help her pack. They had a few seconds of eye-flirting and an almost kiss that I really enjoyed. Sabine/Celeste then upped her taunting game enough for Elijah to bare his fangs!
‘The Originals’ Recap: Mikael. Is. Back.
Cami continued to babysit Klaus and tried to lecture him about his bad behavior. She got Klaus to admit that Rebekah had done the one thing no one had ever done: She ripped his heart out. (Dawh!)
Back in 1919, Klaus knew Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Rebekah were sneaking around. However, he’d made peace with their relationship and told Rebekah that she didn’t have to give up love for him anymore because they’d found their home. This happy moment didn’t last for long. Rebekah and Marcel had already betrayed Klaus and Mikael (Sebastian Roché) was coming. They thought the spell had failed since it had been six months since Genevieve (Elyse Levesque) summoned Mikael. Boy, could they be more wrong.
Mikael sought after Marcel first. He reminded Marcel that he was “the destroyer” and that he’d burned cities in pursuit of his family. Mikael admitted Rebekah was always his favorite child and said he wouldn’t hurt her if Marcel told him where Klaus was. Dun dun dun.
Just like Mikael, Rebekah knew Klaus would chase her to the ends of the earth. There was only one way out for Rebekah and Marcel — a cloaking spell and a witch named DAVINA (Danielle Campbell)!
‘The Originals’ Recap: Trust No One, Especially Family
Rebekah still wanted to get the heck out of dodge, but Marcel wouldn’t leave Davina’s body behind. Cami was still having story time with Klaus, and the story was getting cah-ray-zy — Mikael enlisted Elijah to kill Klaus!
Mikael gave Elijah this whole speech about wanting to end Klaus. “Niklaus is an abomination,” spat Mikael. There was only one thing to do with abominations and that was to erase them. Mikael’s eraser of choice? None other than the white oak stake! Elijah could either stand with his father or fall with his brother.
“I will always choose him,” said Elijah. (Somebody hold me. This is too much.) Since Elijah was not on Team Mikael, he was put down for a bit.
Klaus and Rebekah sat at the opera waiting for Marcel. When Rebekah went to look for him, Mikael sat down behind Klaus. He poked Klaus with the white oak stake and threatened to kill him if he moved. Mikael went on and on about how Klaus was a “bastard” who was “desperate for a daddy.” Mikael was going to kill everyone who knew Klaus until no one would remember him. Mikael was going to wipe him out completely. Erase him.
Look, I know Klaus has done some awful things, but Mikael was just the worst. The worst.
Mikael had Marcel and other random victims up on a bloody display to the audience. Klaus and Rebekah tried to save Marcel, but to no avail. Elijah intervened and told Klaus to run. Mikael burnt the theater down and the remaining Originals believed Marcel to be dead. Klaus said his last thread of humanity was killed that night. (Mine would be too, Klaus.)
‘The Originals’ Recap: She’s Baaaack…
Over in the cemetery, Elijah thought he had Sabine/Celeste right where he wanted her. Unfortunately, due to a boundary spell, the Originals could enter the cemetery, but they couldn’t get out until the next moonrise. Celeste then “killed” herself and decided to inhabit a new body. However, Monique (Yasmine Al-Bustami) brought back the real Celeste, but not to help her. Monique realized Celeste’s unethical intentions and allied herself with Elijah. Without any hesitation, Elijah killed the real Celeste. YES!
Around that same time, Davina truly came back! But I can’t help but think that since Celeste said she could never die that maybe she’s inhabiting Davina’s body now. Time will tell! For now, let’s just bask in the fact that our favorite tiny witch is back!
I loved the ending montage of Mikael and Klaus in the past and present day. Mikael was after Klaus and Klaus was after Rebekah. Back in 1919, Klaus wanted to fight Mikael with Elijah and Rebekah. He didn’t want to give up his home. Elijah pleaded with Klaus to run before it was too late.
In the present day, Rebekah found Elijah in the cemetery and then Klaus was there with his own white oak stake almost instantaneously. End scene. Why must you leave me hanging like that?! All I know is that next week’s episode is going to be a battle that must be witnessed by all. I’m so in.
What did you all think of tonight’s episode of The Originals? Are you glad Davina is back? Is Celeste really dead? How awful is Mikael? Do you think Klaus will ever forgive Rebekah? Let me know!
