The Best Extensions That Won’t Badly Damage Your Hair

Since I’m on a daily morning show on VH1, ‘The Gossip Table,’ and constantly going to red carpet events, I love having long, silky hair! But unfortunately, I have very fine hair and even though I love the ombre look, I don’t like coloring my hair! That’s why ‘fillers’ are the best options and they’re the least damaging kind of extensions on your hair. Trust me, I’ve tried it all!

For years I’ve been trying different kinds of extensions and there’s nothing I love more than fillers. Being that I have fine hair, I don’t want something that’s going to be too heavy and put a lot of stress on my hair. Luckily, I went to the Pierre Michel Salon in NYC, and their stylists made me glamorous and it took no time at all!

Why Fillers Are The Best Extensions

Here’s what I’ve tried and why they don’t work for me. First off, I want fullness, rather than length but it doesn’t matter because fillers can provide both!

Clip in hair extensions: I don’t want the hassle. Having to put them in and make sure they’re in the same place every day, just isn’t for me. I need something that’s in my hair so that I can just get up and go.

Keratin hair extensions: Stylists normally apply the Keratin bond with heat. That’s fine for people with thicker or more coarse hair, but it’s too intense on my soft, fine hair. Plus, they are a bit heavy and I found them pulling on my hair. This whole process takes at least two hours and I don’t have that kind of time every other month to deal with that!

Fillers: These are the best for my lifestyle and hair type. First off, they take no time to put in. Nikki at Pierre Michel matched my hair during a consultation, ordered shades of blonde and brown since I wanted ombre, and I came back the next week. It took her about 25 minutes to put all the fillers in, which are already pre-taped. Once she sandwiched my hair in between the pieces they were in — boom! All I needed next was a good cut! That’s when Pierre Michel’s amazing stylist, Jerome, shaped my hair and gave me an amazing blow out! The entire process took an hour and a half for everything — so easy! “Other individual extensions are very skinny,” Nikki says. “When it grows out it can get mated and you’re also not able to reuse the hair like other kinds.”

Once these grow out, I can reuse them up to three times! Then if you want to add a pop of color to your hair, you can just do it with extensions, without having to color your own hair! Just make sure you don’t put conditioner on the roots when you wash your hair and always use a Mason Pearson brush multiple times a day! A great tip: clip your hair up when you go to bed so that it doesn’t get tangled!

HollywoodLifers, would you ever try filler extensions?
