‘The Vampire Diaries’ will finally return on Feb. 27, with an episode that finds Stefan unknowingly on the road with Katherine as Damon confronts his demons. Find out what the show’s EP Caroline Dries told HollywoodLife.com about the episode — including its epic Tyler/Caroline scene — below!
The Vampire Diaries left us wanting “more, more, more” on Feb. 6, when it was revealed that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) had become a cannibal and Katherine (Nina Dobrev) would stop at nothing to get into Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) pants. Luckily, the show’s exec producer Caroline Dries filled HollywoodLife.com in on all of the juicy bits to come — like, you know, how Damon will literally stop at nothing to get Elena back!
‘Vampire Diaries': Caroline Dries On Katherine’s Deception & Delena Drama
Stefan is eternally a good brother, so it came as no surprise when Dries told us that he’d be the one to chase after Damon in “No Exit,” even though Damon has recently become an unlikable, Aaron-killing ass. However, this being TVD, it’s not going to be an easy ride — mostly because Katherine tags along; hellbent on finding her way into Stefan’s pants.
“I’m most excited about the Katherine storyline,” Dries says. “It’s just Katherine doing what she’s best at, which is manipulating and being calculating… Even as she’s focused on Stefan, she still manages to throw Damon’s life into more peril. She hits all the bases on this one, [and] it gets a little sexy… [Katherine and Stefan] take a fun road trip to find Damon, and she uses it to contrive an opportunity for them getting a hotel room together.”
Bow chicka bow wow! Of course, while all of this is going down, Damon will be dealing with arguably the worst thing that’s ever happened to him throughout his very long life.
“Damon has several things he’s dealing with,” Dries continues. “One, he’s a vampire ripper, and he does not want to kill his friends. But number two, he doesn’t want to be too obvious about killing any vampire — you don’t want to get caught. So he and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) formulate this procedure that they do to get vampire blood.”
Okay, sounds like Damon and Enzo MIGHT get things semi-under control by the end of the night. However — and this is where you can appropriately freak out, Delena fans — Dries told HollywoodLife.com that fans should NOT give up hope when it comes to a reunion.
“Deep down, Damon doesn’t want Elena to be out of his life forever,” she says. “He wants her back. He was just acting out because that’s the only thing he knows how to do — act out and do the wrong thing.”
Yeah, trying to kill Jeremy typically counts as doing the wrong thing.
Caroline Dries: Tyler & Caroline Battle It Out
Naturally, Stefan and Caroline (Candice Accola) will eventually figure out what’s going on with Katherine, but since Matt (Zach Roerig), the only one who currently knows, will spend the episode as Nadia’s (Olga Fonda) hostage — because “Nadia is going to try to exhaust every possibility before having to kill him” — Caroline will have time to work things out with Tyler (Michael Trevino).
“They still have a lot to deal with, with learning that Caroline slept with Klaus,” says Dries. “That’s a really deep wound for Tyler to come to terms with. They’re trying to be friends, but there’s this big, dark cloud hanging over them that he can’t erase… That conflict will rear its head again, so they’ll both have to talk about it.”
Just don’t growl at her again Tyler, k?
What do you think, TVD fans? Are you excited for Stefan and Katherine’s sexy road trip, or are you still missing our dearly departed Elena? Are you happy to hear that Damon will try to win Elena back? Do you think Jeremy might take off his shirt? I sure hope so! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
