Here’s some vampire news that doesn’t suck: The CW has officially confirmed that our favorite vamps from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will live to see another season. So, who else got renewed on this glorious day? Click below to find out!
Congrats to newbies The Originals and Reign for officially being picked up for second seasons!
The freshman dramas will return for the 2014-2015 year along with Supernatural — which will be back for a whopping tenth season — The Vampire Diaries, which will debut its sixth, and Arrow, the network’s current highest-rated show, which will be on its third.
“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz in a statement obtained by HollywoodLife.com. “The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”
Drama and shirtlessness, Mark. Let’s get real, here.
Of course, some other CW favorites were left out of this glorious pickup extravaganza. Sophomore dramas Beauty and the Beast and The Carrie Diaries, junior drama Hart of Dixie, and freshman drama The Tomorrow People, have yet to receive the good word. However, hope is not yet lost — CW’s upfronts are in May, so more good news might be coming in the spring.
What do you think about the renewals, HollywoodLifers? Which returning show are you most excited for? Is there one that should have gotten the axe? Should Tomorrow People, Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie, and Carrie Diaries come back? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
