Tommy Hilfiger turned the runway into a chic winter scene as he celebrated the stylish American explorer for Fall 2014. He debuted his collection at the Park Avenue Armory on Feb. 10 during New York Fashion Week, where the designer sent a slew of plaid looks down the runway as models walked on a runway lined with fake snow. On one side, a ski rack added to the sporty vibe of the collection as a log cabin sat perched in the distance. Infused in the collection was a mix of technical detailing, like bungee-cord button holes and hiking boots, which blended well with the theme of the show. Shirt-dress silhouettes and pleated, plaid minis were juxtaposed with the rugged detailing, making for a practical yet cool collection.
Backstage, we got to catch up with the designer before the show, and he told us he’s “Mad for plaid!” this season — and it was certainly apparent as the show began! Personally, I’m loving the ’90s vibe of the plaid separates and while they seemed sporty and functional on the runway, they can easily be styled for a cool red carpet look. Oversized, shearling-lined parkas layered over velvet sweatshirts and mini dresses gave the collection a flirty and effortless vibe while still being totally functional for the fall and winter season.
Not only was Tommy’s Fall 2014 collection cohesive, but we definitely think his celeb fans will be eager to scoop it up! From Jessica Alba to Zooey Deschanel, we can’t wait to see how they put their own unique twist on the fall line.
