The cool, versatile collection was inspired by NYC — and the result was a fun, edgy collection that was just as eclectic as the big city.
DKNY’s Fall 2014 collection debuted during New York Fashion Week on Feb. 10, where everyday individuals served as models, (and both Hannah Bronfman and Chelsea Leyland took a walk down the runway), showing off their individual sense of style — along with the collection, of course! Rita Ora and Victoria Justice were present, taking it all in from the front row as the untraditional models showed off their very own beauty looks, which included cropped ‘dos, blue braids, tattoos, and so much more. Not only did the show celebrate the versatile style found in NYC, but it paid homage to the melting pot that NY really is.
DKNY Fall 2014 Collection:
The eclectic vibe was visible in the collection, as models rocked varsity jackets, bombers, and a slew of plaid. While many of the looks had such a casual, streetwear vibe to them, there were still feminine pieces that we couldn’t get enough of. The plaid minis were among our favorite looks, as was a pretty, pink lace mini. Fur, which seems to be everywhere this season, was also a major part of the runway show.
The edgy vibe is perfect for stars who aren’t afraid to let their individuality shine through when they’re getting dressed — and that’s why I think the collection would look great on both Rihanna and Kylie Jenner. Something about the cool line seemed to be so in tune with each star’s sense of style.
The NYC influence was visible in the entire collection — and right down to the model’s fingertips! Michelle Saunders for essie created three different nail looks for the runway which really brought out the urban, street style vibe of the collection and reminded us of the gray cement of the city sidewalks. From an inverted French mani to two neutral options, I loved the way they complimented the cool vibe of the collection without taking the focus away from the clothes.
