Kody Brown has never been shy about his love for his wives — all four of them — so it’s no surprise he’s decided to throw a massive commitment ceremony on TLC’s Sister Wives. Unfortunately, an unexpected family crisis on the Feb. 9 episode forces the Browns to put aside their plans.
On this week’s episode, Kody’s father Winn passes away at the age of 78, just weeks after Kody’s brother Curtis died in a motorcycle accident.
Needless to say, it’s an incredibly emotional episode, one that shows the true strength of Kody’s blended families. For the past four seasons, we’ve watched the Browns overcome countless struggles, and we’re confident they’ll pull through this one just fine.
As if that wasn’t enough to deal with, this week’s episode also finds the Brown family preparing to say goodbye to Mariah, who’s headed off to an out-of-state college. Though she isn’t the first Brown to leave home for school, she is going considerably farther than Logan, and the wives are worried she won’t get to know her youngest siblings.
“I really wanted Solomon to get to know his older brothers and sisters,” Robyn says in a confessional. “I think he’ll see Aspen and Logan enough, but I’m really concerned about Mariah, and I think Mariah really, really intensely loves Solomon. I want to keep that, I want him to grow up with her in his life, so I’m hoping she can visit often.”
“I’m really nervous about how that’s going to be when we say goodbye,” Meri adds. “I’m not going to like not having her here with me on a regular basis.”
