It’s official: Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has 99 problems, and witches are all of them! Celeste and her fellow death-cheaters put the Mikaelson family through hell on the Feb. 4 episode of The Originals, eventually resulting in the death of one of their closest allies. … OK, fine, more like one of their closest frenemies.
Yes, in the final moments of this week’s nail-biting episode, Miz Sophie Devereaux (Daniella Pineda) found herself bleeding out on the city streets — and at the hand of her just-revived niece, Monique, no less! It seems Celeste’s coven is growing stronger by the day, which is why I’m counting down the seconds until Davina (Danielle Campbell) returns to take them out. Come on, you know that’ll happen eventually.

In all seriousness, though, I was sad to see Sophie go. Her presence has never been stable — she flip-flops between sides more than the footwear of the same name — but Daniella’s portrayal has always been solid. Besides, with all these witches coming and going as they please, who’s to say she’s even permanently dead?
Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) used the full moon as an opportunity to commune with her estranged furry family, but she got more than she bargained for when she met Jackson (Nathan Parsons) — her hunky future husband! Well, alleged future husband.
Truth be told, Jackson’s not a bad option, especially now that Elijah (Daniel Gillies) has decided to go all ‘noble’ and not interfere with his brother’s baby mama. (Wait, I keep forgetting that Hayley is pregnant! I must stop shipping her with all these non-baby daddies.)
Like all parties in the TVD/Originals universe, things quickly went south, as a pack of wolves ambushed Rebekah (Claire Holt) in the woods and the witches trapped Hayley in a burning house. Hayley and Jackson managed to make it out alive thanks to Elijah’s superhuman chivalry, but I can’t say the same for Rebekah, who remains very much in peril.
It should also be noted that Elijah is more than just a dashing gentleman with perfect hair and a keen eye for fashion; he’s also a genius. He saw right through Celeste’s disguise, but sadly, wasn’t able to stop her from working her magic on him — literally. A poisoned kiss (!!!) rendered him nearly powerless, forcing him to use his last ounce of strange to save Hayley.
Oh, and just as Shannon Kane told me, Celeste is not a fan of Elijah’s lady friend, which she made very clear tonight. “She has no idea how dangerous it is to be loved by you,” she said as she worked her magic against Elijah.
And while we’re talking about romance, those hoping for more closeness between Klaus and Cami (Leah Pipes) probably loved the twosome’s interactions this week, as he lent a hand — and about a quart of his own blood — to break the hex on her uncle.
HollywoodLifers, what was your favorite part of this week’s episode? Are you bummed that Sophie’s dead? Are you secretly shipping Hayley and Jackson? Drop a comment with your review below!
