After losing to the Seattle Seahawks at the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 with a devastating score of 43-8, Denver Broncos defensive end Shaun Phillips tweeted out a screenshot of a heartwarming text message conversation he had with his son post-game.
Despite having the statistically best offense in NFL history, the Denver Broncos lost to the Seattle Seahawks with a score of 43-8. It bears mention, however, that the Seattle Seahawks also went into the Super Bowl with the number-one ranked best defense in the league. After the game, Broncos defensive end Shaun Phillips tweeted a screenshot of a text message conversation he had with his son apologizing for “[letting him] down.”
Denver Bronco Shaun Phillips To Son Jaylen: “Sorry I Let You Down”
However, Shaun didn’t need to apologize for letting his son down! As you can see in the screenshot, Jaylen responded with: “It’s ok daddy u r still my hero.” How sweet is that? And after all, his father is a football superstar! How could he not be a hero to his young son? Somebody has to lose, after all, and Shaun went into the Super Bowl with a pretty stellar record.
This was Shaun’s first year with the Broncos — he even took a paycut to be on the team so that he could try and win the Championship! Whoops.
Denver Bronco Shaun Phillips To ‘Hang Out’ With Son Jaylen Now That The Football Season Is Over
Shaun responded with “Well at least we get to hang out now” which we love to see. It’s certainly understandable when sports stars have to spend time away from family for games and training, but we love when they make up for it by spending time with family once the season is over!
A veteran player well-liked by his teammates and fans alike, we bet that Shaun will enjoy his much-needed rest while hanging out with his son Jaylen.
What do you think, HollyMoms? Did you love this heartwarming message from father to son? Were you rooting for the Seahawks or the Broncos in the Super Bowl? (Or did you not watch at all?) Vote and tell us your thoughts below!
