After spending more than two decades scheming on the streets of Salem, Sami Brady is finally taking a one-way trip out of town. Alison Sweeney, who plays the gorgeous deviant on NBC’s Days Of Our Lives, confirmed her departure Jan. 20 during a special appearance on Ellen.

“I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show,” Alison said, shocking the studio audience. “I’ve been on Days Of Our Lives since I was 16 years old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I mean, it’s so awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it.”

Clearly, this wasn’t an easy decision for Alison to come to, especially with the show’s legions of devoted fans to consider. Still, she decided it was in the best interest of her growing family.

“My daughter just turned five, and my son is nine, and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year,” Alison told Ellen. “I’m going to be on Days all this year. … We don’t have a specific time yet [for my departure], but I’m going to be on all this year and we’ll see what happens.”

So, how will Sami make her grand exit out of town? Alison said it would be great to see Sami have “some kind of happy ending,” but after everything she’s done, she “probably deserves some sort of very twisted, like Breaking Bad ending.”

“She’s caused a lot of people a lot of problems,” Alison explained. “Sami has certainly caused her fair share of drama over the last 21 years.”

Sammy is the one who made days of our lives blossom and kept alive and exciting and on our toes. The sex appeal between her and EJ was on fire. I have been watching Days of Our Lives for 26 years already and i am so sad that Sammy and EJ had to leave the show but i do understand that Sammy had to be home with her family and give her attention to her kids. God BLESS U SAMMY AND THE BEST TO U AND UR FAMILY. U WILL B MISSED I HOPE U DO COME BAC

I have been watching Days since it started. Allison Sweeney has always been the top star and such a great one. She will be missed. But as she says-with Soap Operas you never know. I hope that she does and surprises everyone.
I Wish her all the luck in all of her future work, but hope that she does return, She will be missed by everyone who has watched Days.
