Kate’s 13-year-old twins, Cara and Mady Gosselin, sat right by her side as she told ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie that her girls are well-adjusted and excited for more TV. But when Savannah asked the girls how everything was going, their reaction was shocking!
It was quite possibly one of the most awkward interviews in TV history: Kate Gosselin brought her twins, Cara Gosselin and Mady Gosselin, on the Today show Jan. 15 to tell the world that having their lives documented for years on TLC didn’t affect them negatively. But things went south the moment Savannah Guthrie began asking questions, and Kate’s plan crumbled on national television. HollywoodLife.com spoke with body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass, who told us the girls appeared to purposefully embarrass their mother on TV.
Kate Gosselin’s Children Were ‘Emotionally Intimidated’ On ‘Today’
Kate claimed the girls were excited to come on the show and tell the world how they’re doing, but their actions spoke louder than her words.
“They were obviously manipulated into this, they had many opportunities to speak,” Dr. Glass told us. “There’s one thing they did, when they are eye to eye in anger looking right at each other. I think the girls succeeded in embarrassing their mother on national TV.”
Savannah simply said to the girls, “We have not seen you or gotten to talk to you two in a long, long time. You’re out because you want to let the world know you’re doing okay. What would you want to say about how you and your sister are doing, Mady?”
Mady didn’t say a thing and just looked blankly at her mom. Kate then said, “Mady, your words. It’s your chance. Spit it out.”
Dr. Glass told us Mady looked “angry” and that both girls showed “emotional intimidation.”
“Turning your head to the side to speak is a feeling of deception,” Dr. Glass said referring to Mady. “Maybe they didn’t agree with what they were saying. It makes you wonder if indeed things are as rosy as they said in the People article because this body language shows they may not be.”
She also added that Kate “had a lot of tension in her jaw.”
Kate took to Twitter to try and let the world know that the girls were just nervous.
Thanks to @TODAYshow for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today! 1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless :)

Kate’s Daughters Open Up To ‘People’ — we’re Not Damaged
This interview came right after Kate and her daughters spoke to People, and said that life is totally normal.
“People expect us to be damaged,” Cara said. This was much more than she said on the Today Show! Then Mady added: “People think we’re supposed to be messed up, like, ‘Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they’re going to be scarred for life, waaaaah.’ Here’s the big news: we’re not messed up.”
HollywoodLifers, it sounds like they were much more comfortable behind the camera, don’t you think?
