The star did the unthinkable — she purchased her pricey gown for the red carpet right off the rack before hitting the Golden Globes! So, why did she do it?
Hayden Panettiere looked stunning, donning a black and white Tom Ford gown, as she stepped out on the red carpet at the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 12, where the 24-year-old Nashville star couldn’t stop gushing about her look — and it turns out she actually purchased it! Considering celebrities have a slew of high-fashion frocks on loan at their disposal, why would she shell out thousands of dollars just to don this particular dress?
Hayden Panettiere’s Golden Globes Dress By Tom Ford — Why She Bought Her Gown:
The esteemed designer only dresses one celebrity per award show, and this year the honor went to Naomi Watts, who dazzled in a dress by the designer — so since Hayden wanted to rock Tom Ford, she had to shell out her own money to scoop up the gown, just like anyone else.
Even though Hayden purchased her pricey dress right off the rack, she couldn’t get enough of her glam gown. When asked by E! what she was wearing, she gushed, “Tom Ford. It’s the first time I’ve ever worn him, because I’ve been begging. … I feel sexy in it, I feel comfortable in it and I’m in Tom Ford. I would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him.”
Tom Ford Thanks Hayden Panettiere:
Although the fact that Hayden turned up in the black and white, sexy halter gown goes against Tom’s dressing one celeb per show rule, the 52-year-old designer was enamored by Hayden’s admiration! The starlet took to Twitter to share a touching note and flowers, sent to her by the designer himself, with the message: “Such an honor to wear on of this man’s masterpieces! Thank you for my beautiful flowers!” — how sweet is that?
It seems so unfathomable that an actress would actually go to a store and purchase a dress, but I actually think it’s kind of cool. Aside from the fact that we all know these gals can afford to splurge once in a while, I think it really exhibits a star’s passion for fashion and their affinity for a particular designer — and it proves that, at the end of the day, some stars, (or at least Hayden), really are just like us.
What do you think? Do you think it’s cool or kinda crazy that Hayden purchased her Globes dress?
